Design? Some Photos

Design Verdict

The design of the Chicco Red Bullet Balance Training Bike is really beautiful.

Worth? I must say, yes!

Size

Upon assembly, it came quite apparently how small the Chicco Red Bullet is. Although it is clearly labeled 3+ on the box, the Radio Flyer is labeled 2.5 – 5 years and is much bigger than the Chicco

Wheels & Tires

Along with its small frame, the Chicco also has 10″ tires as compared to 12″ tires on the Radio Flyer and the Vilano (as shown in the pictures above). While larger wheels are used on bikes to increase speed and for leverage over obstacles, on kids bikes larger tires allow for a greater clearance and proper geometry (increased vertical space to extend reach and decrease center of gravity). The lack of space on the Chicco is quite apparent when compared to the other budget bikes.

Durability

While all three bikes had minor scratches and dings, after a few weeks of use the saddle of the Radio Flyer and Chicco began to store. Although cosmetic, it was a little disappointing to the bikes start to show wear so quickly. The bell of the Vilano also fell apart before we could even put it on. The sound on the Radio Flyer, however, it quite durable, but is also deafening.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I have a tall two year old. What would you say the max height is for this bike?

- We bought this bike for a 2 yr. (even though it said age 3 plus) The bars are 22' high and we set the seat at the lowest 13". ( He is also tall for his age) It worked great. The seat can be raised another 5"

What Customers Say About It?We bought this bike for my son's Christmas present -

he turns 3 just yesterday. We were also given a Kazam bike for his Christmas gift so we had to decide between the two. We picked this Chicco up at the main wholesale club for nearly 40% less than the price listed here.

MY 2,5 year-old daughter is hardly in the %50 and I hesitated to buy the bicycle when I saw that it is for kids older than 3. Encouraged by the reviews, I still bought it and everyone is very happy. However, I would not recommend it for taller 3Ts let alone 4Ts. IT is a sturdy, easy to carry-along bicycle for 2 and 3 year-olds.
