The Depar tment o f E lec t r onics andCommunication Engineering was started in the year 1987and Department of Biomedical Engineering was startedin the year 2004. Both the departments has excellentinfrastructure and a dedicated team of staf f to cater theneeds of the students community. Various Projects havebeen funded by DST, IEDC, New Delhi, IEEE MadrasSection, Chennai, TNSCST, ESIC-ISSRD, Bangalore,MSME, New Delhi, MSME-IISC, Bangalore, etc.

The IEEE AESS Madras section, Chennai isjoining with this Faculty Development Programme toenrich the faculty knowledge continuously for the benefitof student community. And also to do innovative researchoutcome af ter this programme. In this juncture we interactwith all technical societies and organizations. It makesplat form for research through nexus with reputedorganization to mould and prone the professionalcompetent of engineers.

Vinayaka Mission's Kirupananda VariyarEngineering College is an initiated educationalbackground, aimed to provide quality education toaspiring technocrats in various fields of engineeringsciences. It started way back in 1987 with 3 branchesapproved by AICTE, New Delhi. Initially af filiated to theUniversity of Madras, Periyar University and later on toAnna University. Later, Elevated to Deemed Universitystatus and hence forth, it has been a constituent collegeof Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed tobe University) in 2004. At Present the institution has8 branches under UG & 4 Specialization program underPG along with MBA under various specialization of feringhigher educations. The institution is approved by AICTEand accreditedby NAAC.

Teaching-Learning is an important process inacademic institutions. Transfer of knowledge takes placefrom the teacher to the students only when the teaching isef fective. The young teachers need orientation andtraining in ef fective teaching.

This two day FDP will be an excellentopportunity to listen to the experts in this field and also todiscuss basics and advanced topics with hands-ontraining using MATLAB and will explore new directions intheir applications to Engineering and Industry. Furtherthis Programme comprises of lecture cum- demo ofMATLAB with 'hands-on' training in the basic commands.

It has become important for the educators andpracticing Engineers, to continuously update theirknowledge and skills in MATLAB which also helps toresearchers and Faculty Members to update theirresearch skills.
