Child and Adult Care Benefits

Bright Horizons Back-up Care

As part of Target’s commitment to support our team members in taking care of themselves, each other, and their families, we’re excited to offer eligible team members Bright Horizons Back-Up Care. Whether you’re preparing for back-to-school, your regular nanny is out sick, or your mom or dad needs an extra hand, let your enhanced Bright Horizons benefits help ensure your loved ones are being taken care of.

You and your family have access to: • Center-Based Child Care — find convenient back-up care nationwide, close to home or work, for

school closures or when the sitter’s sick • In-Home Child Care — find a reliable back-up caregiver, even when your child is mildly ill • Back-Up Adult/Elder Care — reserve in-home care for your Mom or Dad that live with you when their

regular caregiver is on vacation or when your spouse is recovering from surgery

Center-based care is $20/day/child and in-home care is $4/hour. Payments will be processed via online payment at time of reservation booking. Team members can use up to 20 sessions/care recipient/calendar year.*

To register and request care: Visit the Back-Up Care site, download the app from iTunes or GooglePlay (search Bright Horizons) or call 1-877-242-2737 and press 4 to connect with a Target-specific consultant. When first visiting the site, click Create Your Profile and use Target’s credentials to log in (username: Target, password: Benefits4You). Then create your own personal profile including a username and password of your choosing.

You can request care one month in advance up to the actual date care is needed. All care recipients must be registered before using care.

Reservations must be cancelled at least one business day prior to the reserved date of care or you may incur charges.

Back-up Care FAQs

Q: What is backup care? A: Backup care gives Target team members access to center childcare plus in home child/adult/elder-care services when their usual arrangements are temporarily unavailable. Q: Who is eligible for the backup care benefit? A: Eligibility follows the same guidelines as dental eligibility; refer the Eligibility Page on targetpayandbenefits.com or call Target Benefits Center at 800-828-5850 for confirmation. Q: Are seasonal or temporary team members eligible for backup care? A: No, they would not meet the eligibility requirements for backup care. Q: How does backup care work? A: If a team member’s regular care arrangements fall through, they can bring their child to a daycare center for $20 a day or arrange for in-home care for someone who lives with the team member and relies on them for support; in home care is $4/hour.

Q: When would a team member use backup care? Why are you making this change? A: Backup care is intended to help team members when their usual child or family care arrangements are temporarily unavailable. Extending our backup care benefit means our team members will have reliable care in situations where they might have otherwise had to choose to miss a shift, meeting or other important work opportunity.

Q: The policy includes backup care for adults and seniors. Who does this include? A: Adults and elders who live in the team member’s home and rely on them for support are eligible care recipients.

Q: How much do team members pay for backup care? Is it fully subsidized by Target? A: Target will cover the majority of the cost, and team members who use backup care will be responsible for a nominal fee as outlined in the policy.

Q: How many days of backup care can team members use? A: Team members can access this benefit up to 20 days per calendar year per care recipient.

Q: Who is the backup care partner? A: We partner with Bright Horizons network to offer this benefit to team members.
