The Seaside View Child Development Centre is part of the Children & Families’ Integrated Children’s Development & Disability Service. This city-wide service works with children who have a range of developmental needs.

What can you expect from the service?

Assessment, which may include •diagnosis, investigation and treatment and early intervention based on a child and family’s individual needs.

A flexible and responsive service •committed to working in partnership with parents/carers and children and young people.

High quality information and support at •the earliest opportunity, to plan together with families to meet their needs.

How can a child be referred to the service?Parents and carers can ask any professional who knows their child to complete a referral form and send it to the team at Seaside View. Parents and carers are also welcome to contact Seaside View direct for more information.

Who is in the team?Keyworkers •Nursery nurses•Occupational therapists•Paediatricians•Physiotherapists•PRESENS •Psychologists / Counsellors•Social workers•Specialist health visitors•Specialist nurses•Speech and language therapists•

Where is the service based?Seaside View is based at Brighton General Hospital in Elm Grove, Brighton.

The Pre-school Special Educational Needs Service (PRESENS) is based at the Jeanne Saunders Centre in Palmeira Avenue, Hove.

Seaside View links closely with a wide range of other teams and agencies in the city who work with children and families, ensuring effective, co-ordinated planning.

What happens when a child is referred? All referrals are discussed in a team meeting. Within two weeks of this team discussion you will be sent a letter which explains the outcome of the meeting and also how the service may be able to help.

It is normal practice for staff in the Integrated Children’s Development & Disability Service to share information with professional colleagues within the Children & Families service and partner organisations who may be able to help your child. If you do not wish this to happen, please tell us.

If there is a need for a social work service the centre will contact the family within seven working days.
