ACCOUNTABLE TO & SUPERVISED BY: The Pastor to Children & Families; the Elder Board.HOURS: 10 hours weekly PAY: $500 PER MONTHPURPOSE: Children & Families Ministry exists to help children know Jesus, by asking Him into their lives as Savior, leader and friend; to follow Jesus, learning how to grow in their faith as part of God’s family; and to share Jesus, through word and example. We also desire to assist parents by training and encouraging them to fulfill their God given responsibilities to nurture their children spiritually, and to supplement their efforts through Christian formation classes, worship opportunities and other activities for children and families.PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:

Coordinate all special events for children and families at Newport Covenant Church as outlined below: Plan and coordinate special events, in consultation with Pastor to Children & Families, such as

the Fall Fun Fest, the 4th/5th Grade Overnight, the Birthday Party for Jesus, the Veggie Tales Breakfast, the Family Ministry Day and the Easter Egg-stravaganza.

Co-lead, along with the Pastor to Children & Families, the Day Camp Leadership Team, helping to plan, recruit for, advertise, implement and follow up from our week of camp.

Track the resources that are needed to implement these events with the allotted budget.QUALIFICATIONS:

Is an active member of Newport Covenant Church or willing to become one. Loves children and has a desire to see children and their families follow Christ. Has experience working with children. Is growing spiritually with a faith that supports the doctrines of the Evangelical Covenant Church and has

adequate Biblical knowledge and familiarity for teaching and leading children. Is willing to work in harmony with the congregation, leaders and staff of NCC in directing children and

families events and fulfilling our church vision. Possesses spiritual gifts that are appropriate for this position. Is willing to participate on the Children & Families Leadership Team (meets quarterly to dream, evaluate,

pray and plan) as we seek God’s direction. Is willing to meet frequently with the Pastor to Children & Families for prayer, consultation and planning.

COMPETENCIES: Possesses leadership and organizational skills for: planning, advertising, recruiting, organizing,

supervision, team building, running and following up on special events. Has, or can develop, contacts with various non-profit and missional organizations as required for

developing service opportunities for the children and families of NCC. Is attentive to detail. Is dependable, timely and hard working. Has strong computer and communication skills.

ATTRIBUTES: Professes faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and possesses the call of God to the Christian ministry. Accepts the Bible as the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. Demonstrates and models a Christian life which is indicative of growing spiritual and emotional maturity. Is knowledgeable and supportive of the Evangelical Covenant Church Denomination in its mission. Operates in a manner which is consistent with the Word of God, the Principles and Rules of the Ordered

Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and the Constitution and Bylaws of Newport Covenant Church.
