If a child has accepted Christ, been baptized and joined the church, they are the church. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ. The children are not one day going to be the church they are the church along with all of us. This coming Sunday is our annual Children’s Day. Our children will be leading us in all aspects of worship. One of the great characteristics of Trinity is our inter-generational nature. Each and every Sunday we have members of all ages involved in worship leadership. However, on Children’s Day we take the time to truly let the youngest among us teach us and lead us. This is always a joyous day, but also a day for us to practice humility and be open to what God can do and say through youngest of our congregation. I know you will want to join us for this special day. This Sunday evening we continue our topic of “What Does the Bible Say About…” This Sunday, I will be leading our discussion on the topic of sexuality. in GarnerSaturday April 23

11:00 am - 4:30pm

Cost: Lunch on your own Theatre Tickets $12

(Make checks out to TBC)

First we’ll head to Garner for lunch at Angie’s—formerly Green’s Grill but still great food. After lunch we’ll head over to the Garner Performing Arts Center for a performance of “Godspell” by the Garner Towne Players.

This is a timeless tale based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew. A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing. A score with chart topping songs is employed as the story of Jesus’s life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.

This is general admission – no reservations, so we’ll arrive early to get the best seats. Checks must be made out to TBC and are due no later than Sunday, April 17.

Call Bill Gard at 919-872-0709 if you have questions.

MCCREARY COUNTY, KYSummer Misson Opportunities

Construction & Vacation Bible School

July 9-16 • Cost: $275This will be our 10th year partnering with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and their Rural Poverty in McCreary County, KY (one of the top 5 poorest counties in the US). Our local partner, Hills & Hollers Ministries, operated by Jim and Rita Cmolik have worked hard to impact the lives of literally over a thousand families through building relationships, renovating substandard housing, running the PineKnot Cooperative (through which we donate truck loads of clothing, household items, etc. every 6 weeks or so) and many other efforts. This partnership has grown into a friendship with several of our TBC families going to spend days or even a week of vacation time helping in whatever needs to be done.

Be a part of the 2016 Summer Team that will do construction and partner with the local

Roundtop Baptist Church to do a community VBS. Cost for the mission including transporta-tion, meals, and lodging is $275. Cost of the building materials and VBS materials come from our TBC Missions Budget.

To participate, sign-up on the Narthex Registration Board, or contact Hal Melton: 919-787-3740 or [email protected]. If you want to work in VBS, we need you to sign-up in March. Construction crew can sign-up through April (if there is space left). We are limited to the first 31 persons, so don’t wait!

Music CalendarWith heartfelt gratitude, we thank Michelle Miller and the Student Choirs for adding their music to our worship experiences this past Sunday. Michelle’s song, “Clean,” was a very contemplative and reflective song for us to hear during Lent. The student’s selection, “Made New,” was a reminder that we are all made new in the image of Christ. Both songs were very complimentary of one another, and I hope everyone received a blessing from the messages. Parents of student choirs, thank you for continuing to bring your students to choir on Sunday evenings!

This Sunday is Children’s Sunday, and our Preschool and Children’s Choirs will be singing in worship. The choirs will rehearse this week to get ready for this very special day. The excitement builds! Please contact your director for times and any information about your child’s choir responsibilities.

Katie Medlin, [email protected]

A common question I sometimes hear is how do I share my faith with my child?

How do you communicate spiritual truths and moral values to a three- or four year-old? Can she conceive of an infinite God or understand theology or sit through a religious service? Both Old and New Testaments address this quite plainly:

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

– Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

– Luke 18:16-17

First, we are to talk to our children about God as we go about our daily business. As important as regular observances can and should be, spiritual matters shouldn’t be confined to a specified religious time slot
