Our Opening Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give

us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us, and

lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Let us Pray:

Caring God,

To make this world happy

and peaceful as you want it,

we must work hard at loving

and helping all people. See

how weak we are; make us

strong to do your work,

because without you we can

do nothing. We ask you to

do this through Jesus, your

Son.

Amen.

We celebrate these saints during the second week of February!

Saint Scholastica

Saint Scholastica was born in Italy, and was the brother of Saint Benedict. She established the first convent of Benedictine nuns, and therefore is the patron Saint of Benedictine nuns and education. Her feast is celebrated on February 10.

Our Lady of Lourdes – February 11 (Marie-Bernarde Soubirous, also called Saint Bernadette Soubirous) Bernadette was the eldest of nine children from a poor family. Between February 11and July 16, 1858, at the age of 14, she had a series of visions of the Virgin Mary in the nearby grotto. Mary revealed her identity to Bernadette and, among other messages, told Bernadette that a chapel should be built there. Her parents, local priests and others did not believe Bernadette when she told them about Mary’s requests. But Bernadette persisted and prayed, and the church waseventually built. She was canonized by Pope Pius XI, who believed in her visions and named Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes. The Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdesis February 11.

Our Closing Prayer

Hail Mary, full of grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners, now and at the

hour of our death.

Amen.
