My Mother
Sea waves,golden sands, pilgrims’ faith,
Rameswaram Mosque Street, all merge into one,
My Mother !
You come to me like heaven’s caring arms.
I remember the war days when life was challenge and toil-
Miles to walk, hours before sunrise,
Walking to take lessons from the saintly teachings near the
temple.
Again miles to the arab teaching school,
Climb sandy hills to the Railway Station Road,
Collect, distribute newspapers to temple city citizens,
Few hours after sunrise, going to school.
Evening , business time before study at night.
All this plan of a young boy,
My Mother you transformed into pious strength
With kneeling and bowing five times
For the Grace of the Almighty only, My Mother.
Your strong piety is your children’s strength,
You always shared your best with whoever needed the most,
You always gave, and gave with faith in Him.
I still remember the day when I was ten,
Sleeping on your lap to the envy of my elder brothers and
sisters
i
It was full moon night, my world only you knew
Mother ! My Mother !
When at midnight I woke with tears falling on my knee
You knew the pain of your child, My Mother.
Your caring hands, tenderly removing the pain
Your love, your care, your faith gave me strength
To face the world without fear and with His strength.
We will meet again on the great Judgement Day, My Mother!

Hands of an Angel
Her hands held me gently from
the day I took my first breath,
Her hands helped to guide me
as I took my first step.
Her hands held me close when
the tears would start to fall,
Her hands were quick to show me that she would take care of
it all....
Her hands were there to brush my hair on straighten a
wayward bow,
Her hands were always there to comfort the hurts that din’t
always show.
Her hands helped hold the stars in place and encouraged me
to reach,
Her hands would clap and cheer and praise when I captured
them at length.
Her hands would also push me, though not down or in harmful
way,
Her hands would punctuate the words , just to do what I say.
1
Her hands sometimes had to be disciplined to help bend this
young tree,
Her hands would shape and mould me into all that she know I
could be....
Her hands are now twisting with age and years of work,
Her hands now need my gentle touch to rub away the hurt.
Her hands are more beautiful than anything can be,
Her hands are the reason I am me!...
Now can you guess which angel is she...
‘MAA’ and she’s no more than anything in this world to me!

Mother
She is the shadow in the hot sun.
She is the one who cheers you to have fun.
She is the one who wipes out your tears.
She doesn’t want you to cry.
She is the one who helps you for the first step.
She is the one who bears all mishap.
She is the one who bears all tears
She will never say you good bye.
And that’s my Mama, sees the right.
And that’s your Mama , by your side.
She is better than your best friend & that’s true.
She will never leave you.
My heaven lies beneath her feet.
She’s the kinda one who’s never discrete.
From the problems she will never retreat.
One to rely...
3
Yes, we all do hurt her many times.
Yes, we make her cry too sometimes
Even then she’s our sunshine.
Lighting our life so bright....

Oh! Maa...
The very first word a child would utter is always
Maa, mummy, mom, mumma, mooma…
Oh Maa, you filled my days with rainbow light,
fairy tales and sweet dream night.
With so much ease you take away my fears,
With so much love you wipe out my tears.
Your tender care and your hands in my hair,
Your gentle touch and your love so
fair.
I thank you for you’ve given me the
gift of life,
Your deep warm hugs and your tips
to fly.
I love you, oh Maa
I love you so much….
I am nothing without you,
You are my heart and my soul.
I hope when you think of me,
A part of you, you’ll always see in me.
5
Twinkle twinkle little star..
How I wonder what you are!
Right inside my heart you lie
You are my MOM, my cutie pie!!

My mother is crying
Between the planet Venus and Mars Lies mother Earth, Which we say is ours But who do really cares ? Once it was so beautiful Fully clean and green
But now it seems To be a dream.
Trees are its life But we take it so light So light we take, that We never stop to cut But with each and every cut
We make her life short.
It is so calm, so composed and silent But one day it will become violent So violent it will become, That every creature Will suffer in the future.
7
Before it is too long,
Let us join our hands
Not to do any wrong
Save O’ save her,
Or soon she will meet her end……

Mother Earth
Oh! Mother Earth…
To us you have given birth ,
You give us food and water,
I am your beloved daughter.
You are to us so kind,
But towards most of your kindness, man is blind.
These blessed stills cuts your trees,
To us you give such cool breeze.
Oh! Mother Earth…
To us you have given birth.
You nurture us with so much love,
For whatever need you are our treasure trove.
You teach us to be kind,
To everyone, small or blind.
You are the source of all,
Be it a planted river or waterfall.
10
Oh! Mother Earth…
To us you have given birth.
You do care for us,
Patiently, without asking for a fee.
To love and to serve God,
To be free and not to be bound.

Love∞
Those many waiting weeks, You carried me. I felt the pulse of your love,
When yet I had not learn’d to breathe. And my heartbeat echoed your own, And then you welcomed me A screaming bundle of work And taught me of love. In the caress of your tired embrace, Tired from the love of labor for me. As I clutched your work worn hand, You showed me my rich inheritance. A world of people, All mine to love. You taught me the wonder of things unseen, The vastest love of all.....

Life without Mother
It is like tolling of the bells
this morning.
It is almost dawn but still dark.
I am awake, but away in
my own head.
I think about you, and
Wonder if I should ask
if you miss her.
I am working,
Silent in the particle darkness
I watch my own mother
sleeping on the sofa.
Often times I have felt
so much hate her
for so much pain she brings
for so many stupid moves.
But seeing her sleeping there
I realize how much I love her,
My blessing, my mother.
13
There are so many of my friends.
Who feel the same
one , whose mother verbally abuses her
one, whose mother only feeds her own addictions
and you whose mother casts herself away
from you as though you do not exist.
She sleeps ,and I feel so lucky.
She sleeps and I actually miss her
I miss her while she sleeps
And I wonder if I should ask
You if you miss her.
I know you do
