IntroductionThe purpose of the China Executive Leadership Development

Programme is to develop world-class leaders and foster real

economic growth and shared prosperity between China, the

BRICS countries, and the world.

The programme combines robust academic rigor with

practical networking and business development opportunities.

Participants are exposed to applied learning by using

innovative simulation techniques, master classes and sector

level market intelligence. This is coupled with exposure to

‘Giants of Industry’, focused networking opportunities and commercial matching to sector-level opportunities.

The programme is designed for leaders and executives in the private, public sector and state-owned

enterprises, or for entrepreneurs wishing to expand their businesses internationally. The programme provides a

truly global and life-changing experience, inspires and energises participants, and develops Emotional (EQ)

and Spiritual (SQ) intelligences.

Programme overviewThe programme comprises of five

days of learning, visiting leading

companies, networking and business

matchmaking, and sensory

adventures. Participants will travel

to Shanghai, the commercial

capital of China. A series of master

classes delivered by specialist experts,

and top business and government leaders will offer adult-based experiential and interactive teaching and

learning methodology. Delegates will explore concrete business development opportunities between BRICS

countries. Study tours, visits to top companies, and networking events will promote the development of

relationships and inspire trust among the programme delegates.

The programme offers a great opportunity for delegates to network locally and globally, and to develop

mutually beneficial business and influential relationships that will

endure beyond the programme completion. The programme

will also include cultural, team-building and sightseeing activities.

The primary learning focus will be in the following areas:

• Overview of the economy, history, culture and legal systems

of China

• Opportunities and challenges of doing business in China

and BRICS countries

• Purpose-driven leadership, emotional (EQ) and

spiritual (SQ) intelligences

• International management: success and failure factors

• Entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and imagination

• Digital economy, artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality,

machine learning, IoT (Internet of things), and Big Data

WOW ExperienceThe ‘WOW’ experience is a truly inspirational, fun and life-changing

learning experience created by engaging cognitive, sensory,

Future Learning

This unique concept focuses on ‘powering’ leaders to build on

their inherent strengths and systematically address potential

deficiencies. Our ‘Future Learning’ approach applies high-tech

high-touch teaching and learning methodologies, in international

state-of-the-art learning labs with simulations.

Engaging the Best

High performing enterprises and leaders often buck conventional

business trends and models. ‘Engaging the Best’ is an opportunity

to learn from the best! It is an opportunity to visit the most advanced companies and global leaders in specific

sectors, network at the highest levels and attend master classes.

Ambassador Gate

This first-of-its-kind initiative brings government closer to business to drive economic development. Participants

will benefit from economic policy insights, strategic growth trajectories, market intelligence, business

matchmaking, trade incentives, and interaction with local companies. ‘Ambassador Gate’ is a gateway to

business development, trade and investment in partnership with local embassies.

Sensory Adventures

Successful global leaders are those who transcend local

boundaries to experience other cultures, tastes and lifestyles.

‘Sensory Adventures’ is a customised package of adventures

and experiences aligned to our holistic development philosophy

of developing cognitive, emotional, spiritual and physical

intelligences. Sensory experiences will draw on unique offerings in

the given countries and may include an array of sightseeing,

culinary, cultural, sport, arts, and adrenaline-rush teambuilding

activities.

BRICS Business Opportunities – A Compelling Investment Case

The joint contribution of the BRICS countries to the world’s economy was 23.6% in 2017 and is expected to rise

to about 27% by 2022. In 2018 about 41% of the world’s population is from the BRICS countries.

These statistics indicate that the BRICS countries are reaching a significant demographic and economic

critical mass. There are however, significant differences in economic development and the rates on economic

convergence between the BRICS countries. A clear understanding of the market dynamics and economic

growth levers is imperative for global entrepreneurs.

The programme will empower participants to interpret available

market intelligence, meet with market leaders in the given

countries, and explore mutually beneficial commercial

opportunities and investments. Below is a high-level summary

of the competitive and comparative advantages of the

BRICS member nations.

China

China has historically promoted the manufacturing industry to drive

economic growth. This was supported by aggressive export incentive polices.

Over the past decade, China has become the world’s largest and fastest-

growing source of entrepreneurial start-ups, supported by extensive

e-commerce. The BELD programme will explore growing trends in the

Chinese economy to maximise international trade and collaboration.

India

Low-cost skilled labour, innovations in technology and low IT infrastructural

costs have fuelled the IT sector in India. The country is surging ahead in its

quest for excellence in innovation, the creation of value-based pricing

models, and by designing new technologies. India has emerged as the

fastest growing economy in the world, growing at 6.8%. The BELD programme

will expose participants to the insights and forward planning strategies of IT

captains of industry.

Brazil

An abundance of natural resources and innovative social policies have

helped lift Brazilians from poverty. While the production of oil and soya beans

has been the benchmark of the Brazilian economy, significant progress has

been made in sustainability. They are world leaders in green plastics,

renewable plantations, etc. The BELD programme will assess opportunities

within a challenging economic environment with market intelligence to

identify new growth sectors.

Russia

Russia is well-positioned for economic growth, given its high education levels

coupled with an abundance of natural resources (natural gas, oil, metals,

minerals, lumber, etc.) However, the fall in commodity prices in recent years

have has had a negative impact on the economic outlook for Russia. The

BELD programme will explore opportunities for growth within an evolving

landscape, underpinning new industries (beneficiation, software outsourcing

destination, arms and nuclear energy.)

South Africa

Natural resources have been the foundation of economic development in

South Africa. Traditional industries focusing on mining, agriculture, tourism

and financial services have flourished in South Africa. Will government’s

policies on economic growth and industrialisation drive the creation of new

industries in the ‘green sector’ and mineral beneficiation? The BELD

programme looks at emerging trends in industrial growth in SA and at the

market for foreign direct investment.
