Tourism Australia Strengthen Tourism Australia's market leadership in the digital

space with focuses on regular content updates on Australia.cn and digital campaigns.

Continue the partnership with Ctrip promoting the Australia Pavilion (Australia.ctrip.com) and data sharing.

Partnership with Ctrip for 12 months: 1 million budget, secured 2 million in return.

China-Australia Tourism Year activities wrapping up by end of 2017.

The Greater China Travel Mission (GCTM) scheduled to be in Guangzhou 20-23 November. (TBC on dates and location)

Continue airline cooperation with the major carriers: Singapore Airlines, China Southern, China Eastern, Air China and Qantas.

TA is undergoing review of the KDP list. Pilot a Premium Distribution Partner Program with a product

development focus through training and famils. Tourism & Events Queensland IVS YE March 2017: 218,000 (+8.8%); Hong Kong 19,000

(+18.7%). Hong Kong Airlines campaign (tier 1 market performing well)

with some challenges for the travellers to get off planes and explore Cairns further.

Celebrity reality show ‘Divas hit the Road’ - 2 episodes filmed in Queensland, including Cairns & the Great Barrier Reef region. (This celebrity reality show - 1 billion viewers, 9-10 million dollars media value).

Recruiting a TEQ Hong Kong Marketing Manager. China Southern Airlines direct flights to Cairns – pending. TEQ Greater China Mission - No QoT Great China Mission in

2018. TEQ China office is in planning for a 2-3 days event prior to the TA Greater China Mission (TBC). More information will come from TEQ China Director, Charley Shen.

UPDATES The Greater China Travel Mission 2017(GCTM17) is now 11-14

December in Guangzhou. China Southern will commence scheduled services 3 x per week

starting Dec 2017.

China digital market progression and FIT trends

There has been significant growth in FIT travel over the last 8 months, generating greater dispersal into TNQ regions, noticeably from the self-drive sector.

Agents report that group business continues to show limited growth, while FIT, small and tailor made groups are continuing to show significant growth with higher yield.

The OTA market in China is becoming increasingly competitive as customers book components of their itinerary across different OTA platforms, including Chinese and English channels (Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Airbnb).

CGBR China website (TTNQ Chinese consumer website) is progressing well. We are aiming to launch it by August. (Test link will be sent to members.)

CGBR China website is host in China. 101 things to do in Cairns from CAPL is linked to the CGBR

China website. (CAPL site is currently under renewing.) Media partnerships with major media channels in China to

promote CGBR China website. Key itineraries recommendations, member products…will be

added in the website. Feedback: support and contribution from our members to our

Chinese site are needed. Further discussions will be held going forward.
