• The art of tattooing has been known in China for thousands of years
• It’s called Ci Shen which means “puncture the body”
• Chinese tattoos offer beautiful characters
• Chinese history tattooing has been seen as a defamation
Traditional wedding
• Chinese weddings use the color red to bring happiness and luck
• Inviting friends and family symbolizes formality and relationships
• After the ceremony the bride and the groom burn food and money as a offering to the gods
Chinese Silk
• China is the birthplace of silk
• Silk was discovered in the city of Suzhou
• They harvest the silk from the cocoons of caterpillars
• The cocoons are put in hot water so it can make natural glue
• Once the glue melts it can make 2,000 feet of silk
Chinese New Year
• On Chinese New year people wear red clothing for good luck
• Children are given “lucky money” in red envelopes
• In China it last for 15 days on the Lunar calendar
• Fireworks are set off to scare off evil spirits
