On behalf of the Southern Alberta Angus Club, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone to the 25th Annual Chinook Sale. This sale is surely to be the strongest and best ever, with the excitement over the heifer futurity and the livestock market at a ten year high, the optimism is running strong in the cattle industry! We were fortunate enough to travel to both the Alberta & Canadian Jr. Angus shows this year and it is so encouraging to see the enthusiasm and excitement amongst these juniors for the Angus industry. I wasn’t going to sell her but I thought she has the makings be a great 4-H prospect or just a great female to add to any herd. This heifer is sired by Youngdale Touchdown 36M, Dad has used this bull on a number of the cows in the last couple of years and we have been very pleased with his offspring. This heifer’s Grand dam on the dam side goes back to our Allencroft Illini bull, who was noted for his milking ability and amazing calving ease. Here is another of my heifers they had to pry out of my hands but I’m still happy to offer her to this sale. She is a very well built fancy heifer and defi-nitely an eye catcher. This is a powerful heifer and she definitely will follow closely in her mother’s steps. She is also sired by the Youngdale Touchdown 36M bull that has given Dad such a great selection of females and bulls in the herd. The Grandsire of this heifer goes back to the Allencroft Marshall 04 154N bull. The Marshall Bull gave a lot of our calves that good hip, depth and length which has definitely been passed on to this beautiful female. The Grand dam on the dam side of this heifer is also classed as an Elite dam since 2009. Take a close look at her.

This King Rob daughter is long, dark red, broody heifer. Our intension was to keep this heifer, however once Colton seen her he talked us into entering her. It will be a lost for our herd but a definite gain to someone else’s. Her mother had another heifer calf this year, which looks as good as this one so far making us happy about the consistency of the blood-line. Wild one was AI’d April 16th to Red Six Mile Sakic 832S (1332064) and exposed on April 30th to our own Red Northline Chuck Norris 305X (1588175). Either combination will produce an excellent offspring.

What fun Dick would have had celebrating this 25th Anniversary Chinook Sale with a group of breeders and club that he was so involved in! He was not only a believer in us, but in the cattle industry and agriculture as a whole. Its just over a year since we’ve heard his booming voice, and its our goal to help get the coffers of the Dick Turner Scholarship to an operational level and start sharing the legacy of this great individual. On offer for this years donation is a package of FOUR exportable embryos from one of the famous Beauty family. 8073 had a combination of all the old greats paternally, Traveler, Rito, Emulation and the maternal strength from influencial donor cows such as Miss Wix 365 and Beauty 610. She was a performance cow that had an abundance of milk. 8073 embryos have sold overseas, with one son being used in a purebred herd , and she eventually sold to Currie Angus. The sire of the embryos has risen to the top as one of Traveler 004’s most productive sons, with his daughters mothering some of the top bulls around the country.Donated by Big Sky Stock Farm
