At some merchants, like fast food, the customer isn’t required to sign or enter a PIN for certain low value transactions. This method is becoming an increasingly common practice with traditional cards and will continue to be commonly used as mobile payments are enabled at POS terminals. The customer is required to sign to verify their identity.
