In der Natur müssen verletzte oder zerstörte Gewebeschichten

rasch geschlossen werden, um die Integrität und Funktion des

Organismus aufrecht zu erhalten. Diese Vorgehensweise hat der

Mensch von der Natur übernommen.

Ein Ziel der modernen Wundversorgung ist dabei in erster Linie

der Erhalt noch intakter Gewebe und die Unterstützung der

geschädigten Bereiche. Unsere Nahtmaterialien auf der Basis

bioverträglicher Rohstoffe ermöglichen den gezielten Einsatz

bei jeder Art der Wundversorgung und garantieren bestmögliche

Gewebeverträglichkeit.

Chirurgisches Nahtmaterial dient als typisches Medizinprodukt

zur Reparatur von Geweben. Noch immer werden die meisten

Wundverschlüsse mit Nähten ausgeführt. Dabei ist die mecha-

nische Eigenschaft der eingesetzten Materialien von größter

Bedeutung, um die verlorene Festigkeit zeitweilig zu ersetzen.

Resorbierbares Nahtmaterial, wie z.B. PGA Resorba®, unterstützen

dabei die natürlichen Reparaturvorgänge, bis Form und Funktion

wieder hergestellt sind. Anschließend werden diese im Organismus

abgebaut.

Nicht-resorbierbare Fadenmaterialien (z.B. Mopylen®) garantieren

dauerhafte Unterstützung und beste Bioverträglichkeit, wie sie

insbesondere bei Langzeitimplantaten gefordert wird.

In nature, tissue layers that have been damaged or destroyed

must be closed promptly to maintain the integrity and normal

functioning of the body. Man has adopted this process from

nature.

One primary aim of modern wound care is to preserve tissues

that are still intact, and to support areas that have been damaged.

Our suture products, created from biocompatible starting mate-

rials, can be employed specifically in any form of wound care

and guarantee the best possible tissue tolerance.

Surgical suture materials are a typical medical product used for

repairing tissues. Sutures are still employed for the closure of

most wounds. The mechanical properties of suture materials are

therefore of great importance if they are to make good the

temporary loss of tissue integrity and strength.

Absorbable suture materials such as PGA Resorba® underpin the

natural processes of repair until form and function have been

restored. They are then broken down within the body.

Non-absorbable suture materials such as Mopylen® guarantee

lasting support and optimal biocompatibility, essential require-

ments for long-term implants.

In addi-tion to the immediate, moderately quickor delayed loss of tensile strength thereis also the corresponding duration ofabsorption. Zur Herstellung von CAPROLON® wer-den die beiden MaterialbestandteileLactid und -Caprolacton in einembestimmten Verhältnis copolimerisiert:Es entsteht [Poly(L-Lactid-co- -

Caprolacton)]. Durch den hohen Lactid-Anteil ist CAPROLON® den längerfristigresorbierbaren Nahtmaterialien zuzu-ordnen.Nach Implantation nimmt die Reißkraftvon CAPROLON® nach ca. 7 Wochenum die Hälfte ab. Die vollständige Re-sorption durch Hydrolyse ist nach etwa25 Wochen abgeschlossen. Gewebe-reaktionen werden zum einen durchdie dabei entstehenden unbedenklichenZwischenprodukte, zum anderen durchdie monofile Struktur des Fadens mi-nimiert.Um das Handling und die Gleitfähigkeitim Gewebe zu verbessern, wurdedas Monofilament mit einer Beschich-tung aus Resolacton versehen.

This creates poly(L-lactide-co- -caprolactone).Because of its high lactide proportion,CAPROLON® is classified among theslowly absorbed suture materials.After implantation the breaking loadof CAPROLON® decreases by about halfafter 7 weeks. Complete absorption byhydrolysis is completed after about 25weeks.Tissue reaction is minimal because ofthe completely safe intermediary pro-ducts and the monofilament structureof the thread.The monofilament is coated withresolactone to improve its handlingand its passage through tissue.

POLYESTER

POLYESTER is manufactured by poly-condensation of ethylene glycol andterephthalic acid.

The fibres are produced by the dryspinning method. The stretched,slightly twisted fibre bundles are thenformed into a suture by precision-braiding and tempering. The fibre ishydrophobic, i.e. it does not absorbwater. The material is coloured with aphysiologically safe dye.

The fibres are produced by the dry spin-ning method.
