Grosvenor is located halfway between Camberwell, with its varied range of cultures, shops and businesses, and Walworth, with its markets and the Cuming Museum.

Five minutes walk from the scheme is Burgess Park, one of the largest parks in south east London. The park was named after Councillor Jessie Burgess, Camberwell's first woman Mayor, and there are a number of listed buildings in the park, including a lime kiln, baths and the former almshouses.

Areas of interest Grosvenor Park is five minutes walk from Walworth Road shopping centre and Burgess Park. A further ten minutes up the road and residents can reach East Street Market, the birthplace of Walworth’s first son – Charlie Chaplin.

Chumleigh Gardens, near the centre of the park, is a beautifully planted World Garden, with plants and landscaping designed to reflect the diversity of the surrounding population of this highly cosmopolitan part of London.

Activities There are many bingo sessions at this scheme, as well as bric a brac and raffle sales. The scheme has tea and coffee mornings and afternoon tea. Outings to the seaside in the summer are provided and fish and chips evenings happen each week (usually on Friday).

Buses: 12, 35, 40, 68, 148, 171, 176 – Walworth Road, Peckham, Nunhead, Camberwell, Borough, Aldwych, Oxford Circus, Shepherd’s Bush, Norwood. Trains: A short journey to train stations at nearby Elephant and Castle and Denmark Hill.

Shopping In Walworth Road there are many supermarkets including a Marks and Spencers and Boots the Chemist. A short journey on the bus will take residents to the Elephant and Castle shopping centre. At Elephant and Castle there is also a leisure centre for the elderly.

A short walk from the scheme, the Old Kent Road forms part of Watling Street, the old Roman road. Chaucer's pilgrims would probably have travelled along Watling Street on their way to Canterbury.

Barset is a beautiful residential unit, which is located in the heart of residential Nunhead. The scheme boasts a lively atmosphere. There are evening bingo nights, coffee mornings and fish suppers in the residents lounge. The lounge, which contains a television and comfortable chairs and tables, is at the

centre of the scheme and Barset’s social committee meets here regularly. A large courtyard garden with a lawn, plants and vegetables is located at the centre of the complex. Here residents can sit out on tables and chairs and enjoy the peace of the garden. The scheme is close to Peckham Rye Park and Common which is currently being restored to its former Edwardian glory. Within the park is Sexby Gardens, a formal garden complete with rose pergolas.

Areas of interest Nearby Nunhead Cemetery is perhaps the least well known, but most attractive, of the great Victorian Cemeteries of London. It contains examples of the magnificent monuments erected in memory of the most eminent citizens of the day.

Activities Many activities organised by the residents committee go on in Barset. There is a mobile library, fish supper evenings, coffee mornings, local lunch clubs and trips to the coast.
