05.09.2015 To whom it may concern, I have known Chris McLeod for approximately six years in a professional capacity. I have worked alongside him as a tutor before being appointed to the role of Curriculum & Operations Manager, at which point I took responsibility for line-managing Chris. He has consistently shown himself to be an exemplary employee. Chris is a bright and engaging individual who demonstrates competence and enthusiasm for all aspects of his professional activity. He has demonstrated - in many different situations - that he is capable of developing his own knowledge and technical ability with independence, self-reflection and professional integrity. He was able to manage his own time and work with minimal supervision in all areas of his role, not only with Access to Music but also in his creative freelance work. Chris approached all aspects of his role with interest and a sense of intellectual curiosity. He has shown that he can employ a detailed, accurate and logical approach to analysis, as well as being able to provide thoughtful and critical evaluation of himself and others. Chris has particularly excellent communication skills; he is able to clearly and articulately express himself and his ideas in a way that is appropriate to the situation and sensitive to his audience, making appropriate use of technical terminology and formal vocabulary where applicable. He is very engaging and personable, and has developed strong professional relationships with all members of the team. Both Chris’s written and oral presentation are fluent and expressive, and he effectively communicates his creative, imaginative and operational ideas to others. In his role with Access to Music, Chris always demonstrated exceptional commitment and reliability, becoming involved in many extracurricular projects involving students from programmes other than those that he taught on, as well as partner organisations and others. Chris was always willing to take on additional responsibilities, and was always completely dependable and trustworthy. I was pleased to promote him to the senior role of Curriculum Leader, which he fulfilled with energy, drive and a genuine passion for the success and prosperity of both the learners and the company. Throughout his career with Access to Music Chris has invariably contributed positively to team-based activity and was always a productive, valuable and respected member of the staff team. His approach and demeanour are always supportive and helpful, not only to the students he teaches but also to his colleagues. I have no doubt that Chris will be an invaluable part of any team that he is a part of in the future, and I do not hesitate to recommend him to the highest degree.
