When we are nervous about being in certain si tuations, l ike meeting someone

for the fi rst t ime or being interviewed for a new job, sometimes people attempt

to calm us down by saying, ?Just be yourself.? The idea is to rel ieve the

pressure we put on ourselves by trying to be the person we imagine wi l l be

l iked better or accepted instead of just being the true person we are.

Trini ty Sunday is about just lett ing God be God. Christ ians profess that God is

a Trini ty of Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spiri t bound together as one in

selfless love. God?s love constantly reaches out to us and invi tes us to l ive l ives

of selfless love. Even though al l this might be di fficult to comprehend, i t is who God is. It is God just being

God.

Lett ing God be God is about seeing God who is revealed in the images of Scripture. In the Old Testament, God

is a husband, fai thful to his spouse (Hosea 2:20) and a mother who wi l l never forget her chi ld (Is. 49:15). God is

an art ist, fashioning the world and i ts people (Gen. 1:1). God is a legislator, making laws and wanting them to

be fol lowed (Is. 33:22), and a singer, singing and dancing in del ight over us (Zeph. 3:17). In the New Testament,

God is a woman sweeping her house in search of a lost coin (Lk. 15:8-10) and a shepherd searching for the one

lost sheep (Lk. 15:1-7). God is a dad, welcoming back his lost son (Lk. 15:11-21) and a baker woman, kneading

the dough of the Kingdom (Matt. 13:33). God is a deep sea diver, diving for the pearl of priceless love (Matt.

13:45-46) and a boss who pays his workers wi th lavish generosi ty (Matt. 20:1-16). God is a party person who

cannot stand the thought of no guests at his dinner (Lk. 14:15-24).

In Jesus, God is a beauti ful vine (Jn. 15:1-17) and the way, the truth and the l i fe (John

14:6). He is the good shepherd (Jn. 10:1-11), a short order cook who barbeques breakfast

on the beach for his friends (Jn. 21:9-11) and the bread of l i fe made present to us in the

Eucharist (Jn. 6:35). He is the greatest love of al l , who laid down his l i fe for us, his

friends, that we may l ive forever (Jn. 15:13).

How wonderful to just let God be God!

Mass wi l l take place on Monday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. fol lowed by a patriot ic observance wi thin the Cathedral Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located on campus at 11:00 a.m. Al l are welcomed to remember the fal len as we uni te in prayer for our nation and our world. This wi l l be the only Mass that wi l l take place on this day.

Chr ist Cat hedr al Par ish: Diocesan Chil dr en's Choir Summer Camp The thi rd annual Diocesan Chi ldren's Choir Camp is now accepting registrat ion for i ts summer program. The morning camp wi l l be held June 25-29 on the Christ Cathedral Campus in Garden Grove. Give t he For mer St. Cal l ist us Pl aygr ound Equipment New Lif e The playground equipment at the former home of St. Cal l istus school in Garden Grove has been removed by Diocese of Orange volunteers and wi l l be sent to a school and orphanage run by the Poor Clare Sisters outside of Ti juana, Mexico. The Diocese wants to ensure this equipment is provided to chi ldren that would never be able to afford such recreational equipment. Cuando nos encontramos nerviosos por si tuaciones en las que estamos, como conociendo a una persona por primera vez o tener una entrevista para un trabajo, otras personas tratan de ayudarnos a relajar diciéndonos, ?Nada más t ienes que ser tu mismo.? La idea es que no nos pongamos tanta presión en nosotros mismos tratando de ser la persona que el los quieren ver o la persona que van a aceptar en vez de ser la persona que realmente somos.

El Domingo de la Santísima Trinidad se trata de dejar que Dios sea Dios. Los Crist ianos profesan que Dios es una Trinidad de personas; Padre, Hi jo y

Espíri tu Santo todos juntos en uno, en amor desinteresado. El amor de Dios constantemente nos l lama y nos invi ta a vivi r vidas de amor desinteresado. Aunque tal vez todo esto sea un poco di fíci l de comprender, así es como es Dios. Es deci r, Dios siendo Dios.

Dejando que Dios sea Dios signi fica ver a Dios como quien es revelado en las imágenes de las Escri turas. En el Antiguo Testamento, Dios es un esposo, fiel a su esposa (Oseas 2:20) y una madre que nunca olvidara a su hi jo (Isaías 49:15). Dios es un art ista, esti lando al mundo y todo ser humano (Génesis 1:1). Dios es legislador, haciendo leyes y queriendo que las sigan (Isaías 33:22), también es un cantante, cantando y bai lando con gozo sobre nosotros (Sofonías 3:17). En el Nuevo Testamento, Dios es una mujer que barre la casa en búsqueda de una moneda perdida (Lucas 15:8-10) y un pastor buscando su oveja perdida (Lucas 15:1-7). Dios es un padre, dándole la bienvenida a su hi jo perdido (Lucas 15:11-21) es una mujer que amasa la levadura del Reino (Mateo 13:33). Dios es un buceador del mar, en búsqueda de las perlas más preciosas de amor (Mateo 13:45-46) o un jefe que le paga a sus empleados con gran generosidad (Mateo 20:1-16). Dios es una persona que le gusta las fiestas y no le gusta la idea de que no asista nadie a la cena (Lucas 14:15-24).

En Jesus, Dios es una viña hermosa (Juan 15:1-17) y el camino, la verdad y la vida (Juan 14:6). Él es el buen pastor (Juan 10:1-11), es un cocinero que hace el desayuno para sus amigos en la playa (Juan 21:9-11) y el pan de vida que tenemos en la Eucaristía (Juan 6:35). Él es el más grande amor de todo, que dio su propia vida por nosotros, sus amigos, para que podamos vivi r eternamente (Juan 15:13).

MISA DE MEMORIAL DAYAcompañen al Padre Christopher Smith en una Misa especial el lunes, 28 de mayo a las 10:00 a.m. en conmemoración de Memorial Day. Después de Misa tendremos una ceremonia en Cathedral Memorial Gardens Cemetery, nuestro panteón aquí en el campus, en el cual nos uni remos en oración al recordaremos a todos nuestros soldados que han perdido sus vidas en batal las por nuestra nación y el mundo. Esta será la única Misa este día.
