Your Invitation to the Journey of the Cross
You are invited to come worship with us on Good Friday. Usually this marks an invitation to the Journey of
Holy Week, or the Celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Those invitations stand, but this year,
I want to encourage you to come on Good Friday and worship with us at 7:00 P.M.
The church will be open around 8:00 A.M. for prayer and vigil around the cross, which will be stationed in
the chapel. Then at 7:00 P.M. we will gather in the sanctuary for our Good Friday worship.
The ancient title for Good Friday is "The Triumph of the Cross" which reminds us this solemn day is actually
cause for celebration and hope. The passion of John’s reading describes the reality of Jesus death all the
while pointing to the cross as the throne of Christ, the place from which he reigns as king. Christ gave his life
to give us strength and God raised him up again to give us all hope.
Come join us this Good Friday and live in the hope and strength of Christ our Savior.
Pastor McCarty

All ladies of the church are invited to join our group on Wednesday, March 2 for a brief busi-ness meeting at 11:00 A.M. in the church lounge. Following the meeting, we hope everyone will attend the Lenten devotions and study beginning at 11:30, followed with an organ concert presented by Bill Polhill at 12:30 P.M.
From the Pastor
WELCA Meeting for March
Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright. Praise the Lord with the Lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
Psalm 33, 1-3.
Psalms is one of the best books of scripture to engage the believer's mind, heart, and spirit.
The Rejoice Class will study the psalms beginning on March 6 during the Sunday School
hour. The class will discuss the psalms as prayers, variations in translation, the possibility of
multiple voices, techniques in memorization.
Each student in the class will spend 6 weeks reflecting on an 8 to 12 verse psalm of their
choice. You may want to start considering the possibilities before the class meets. Time spent
with this psalm between class sessions will help settle these words into your heart and further
strengthen its meaning in your own life. Do not worry about memorization, no one will be re-
quired to recite their psalm. But for those willing to tackle this challenge, you give yourself a
prayer resource that is always available to you.
Class will not meet on Easter Sunday, March 27, which is the last Sunday of the month.
Join us for the study of the book of Psalms.
Shalom,
Pastor McCarty
Quilting Day
Calling all volunteers! We need your help to sew and assemble quilts for Lutheran World Relief! Our next Quilting Day is Tuesday, March 15. We begin at 9:30 A.M. and usually finish up our quilting by Noon.
We need helping hands, even if you cannot sew a stitch! So plan to join us for our time of fellowship and quilting.

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Tis like a morn in spring. With a lilt of Irish
laughter you can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy
all the world is bright and gay.
When Irish eyes are smiling sure, they steal your heart
