Dear Friends,
This weekend we complete the Church’s year with the celebration of Christ as King and Lord of all the world. Christ is king in the
truest sense. He came to show that he wanted to serve rather than to be served. He does not ‘Lord it’ over us. What he asks is that
we respond to his lead and his love.
‘If you love me you will keep my commandments’ – through our baptism, through our anointing, we all share in Jesus Christ’s kingly
task – but what does this mean?
It means that we must all take our responsibility for shaping the world in the way God asks. As we look towards Jesus Christ as our
example it is important for us to be clear that God is a God of love and compassion. He is slow to anger and full of mercy. He is also
just and calls us to work for justice and peace in our world today.
At the end of our life we will be judged on love. Whether we have shown love to those who need it. Our Lord, our King, has always
linked himself to the underprivileged members of his flock and he demands we do the same. Perhaps as we begin the New Year of
the Church we can try to make Advent a special time of prayer and love of God and turn our thoughts towards other people – those
in need of love.
With every blessing,
Fr. Michael
Choir Practice – after Sunday Mass from today.
Please come and learn the music for the Anniversary Mass and our new church celebrations. If you would
like to sing but can’t stay for rehearsals please see Petra for music.
Mass Times
Please note that beginning Thursday 1st December the morning mass time will change to 12.00 Midday.
This should help those who, during the winter months, find it difficult to travel to church on icy roads.
November – Month of prayer the Holy Souls
This month of November is a time when we pray especially for the Holy Souls of the departed. There will be envelopes
at the back of the church for your intentions. Please enclose the names of your deceased family members together
with your Mass offering in the envelope. These will be placed on the altar for each mass during November.
Each Thursday and Friday a Mass will be said for the Holy Souls. Your intentions will be included.
Altar Servers
There will be training after Mass TODAY Sunday 20th
November for those who have made their First
Communion and would like to become altar servers. Other servers should also attend.
The training will be run by Katrina Williams and John Batty
An Invitation
The Journey in Faith programme consists of a series of talks offered to those who may be interested in exploring more
about the Catholic Faith.
The talks will be held weekly for approximately one hour where input and discussions on relevant topics take place.
Hopefully those who participate in the course may ultimately wish to commit to enter into full communion with the Catholic
Church at Easter.
If you would like to avail of this support on your Faith Journey, please sign one of the forms which you’ll find at the back of
the church and hand it in to either Fr. Michael or Sr. Carmel at your earliest opportunity.
Further details when we receive your applications.
Food Bank:
With Christmas on the horizon can we please think about those in our own town who will struggle. Maybe we
can choose some more ‘Luxury Items’ puddings – cake, biscuits etc to make the food boxes more festive. Thank
You.

St Felix “Welcoming Group” needs YOUR HELP
We are keen to build on the St Felix tradition of a warm welcome to both parishioners and visitors to our church
and our first priority as a group is to increase the number of St Felix Parish Stewards/Welcomers. This role will
be especially important as we move into the new church building where we need to make the very best of the
extra space and facilities we have.
The main responsibility is to “meet and greet” at both Saturday and Sunday masses and ensure that everyone is
seated for Mass and that there is minimal disruption to the services if people arrive late.
We currently have 10 stewards who work on a rota basis. It would be fantastic if we could increase this number
to 15 it would mean that each person was on duty less than 3 times a year!
This is a role that can be undertaken by any adult, male or female and we would love to see more young adults
involved! As with all our parish work the more the merrier!
If you think you would like to be involved or would like to know more there will be a member of the group
outside both Saturday 6pm and Sunday 10am mass this week or alternatively please ring Sharon Paradine on
01440 704502
ST. FELIX SCHOOL BAZAAR – FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER 6-8pm
Please bring into church a bottle for our bottle stall.
Also is there someone who would be willing to run this for us?
We will also sell all the gifts you bought back from your holiday – again can someone run this stall for us please?
Please see Fr. Michael

Anniversary Celebration December 7th
Just a gentle reminder that it is planned to follow Fathers celebration Mass with a simple finger food buffet and a glass of wine at St Felix School in
the new building.
We NEED YOUR HELP in making this a real parish community celebration!
The lists of food displayed in the church porch are filling up but there are still some “gaps “In order that we can plan ahead it would be very helpful if
the lists could be completed by Sunday 27th.
Please sign your name against the item/items you will be bringing. We know we have some great cooks in the parish, so if you have a special dish
that you would like to bring that would be fantastic! There will be platters available for you to “take and fill”. These can be brought on the night
ready to put directly onto the table as there is limited preparation space and time. There will be someone at the school TO RECEIVE
CONTRIBUTIONS FROM 5PM ONWARDS on the night or you can bring them with you after mass.
THE PARISH “HOSPITALITY GROUP” THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Foundations for Mission A series of training weekends equipping you for the New Evangelisation
Later this year the Catholic Bishops from around the world will be gathering for the Synod on the New Evangelisation. Prior to that, we will see Olympic
fever take over the UK, alongside which, the biggest ecumenical mission in the last 30 years to hit London!
These major events call us to step up and get involved in sharing our faith. Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism is offering a series of teaching and
training weekends which will equip you not only to understand the New Evangelisation but also to be a practitioner.
Participants can choose to take part in one or more of the weekends of this course, or even to just come along for a day’s teaching on the Saturdays.
Although each topic will build on the other the weekends will be autonomous. A more rounded training will be received by those who can take part in a
number, if not all of the weekends. The topics for the weekends are as follows.
9-11 December 2011: 'The New Evangelisation' - Fr. Pat Collins
27-29 January 2012: 'Revelation - Understanding the Plan of God' - Fr. Peter Hocken
2-4 March 2012 - 'Proclamation - Pass-it-On' - Michelle Moran
30 March 2012 - 1st April - 'Demonstration of the Power of God' - various speakers
4-6 May 2012 - 'Equipping you for Ecumenical Mission - Catholic Apologetics' - Alice Hall
7-9 June 2012 - Practical Outreach Experience - Spirit in the City/West End Churches
29 June - 1 July 2012 -'Leadership for the New Evangelisation' – Leadership Skills - Charles Whitehead and Worship Leading - Peter Moran
1-13 August 2012 - Practical Outreach experience - The Joshua Camp/More than Gold
As well as the teaching weekends, you are encouraged to take part in one or both of the practical outreach experiences. Those people who choose to
take part in the Olympics Outreach will be given the opportunity to take on leadership positions at The Joshua Camp (visit www.thejoshuacamp.com) or
in managing various projects for More than Gold (www.morethangold.org.uk). The vacancies for these positions will be offered at each weekend and
project managers/mentors will meet with you to enable you to take on the role you feel led to.
Cost: £75 per weekend as part of the course = £450 in total for 6 weekends. Or for individual weekends the cost is £95 per weekend...the discount to
£75 applies on those booking for 3 or more of the weekends. For further information or a booking form please contact [email protected]
or our administrator on 01277 215011or e-mail [email protected]
