From the Pastor’s Desk

This weekend’s gospel comes from the very beginning of John 6. This particular chapter in the Bible reveals Jesus as the Bread of Life. He makes it very clear to us that he is our Eucharistic Lord, feeding us with his very flesh and blood under the guise of bread and wine. This Bread from Heaven is what gives life to our soul and draws us more deeply into union with God. We will hear the entirety of John 6 over the course of the next five weeks at Mass. Feel free to open up your Bibles at home. Reflect upon John 6 and its significance in your own life of faith. May the Lord bless you throughout this week. Father David Schalk Answer to last week’s question: Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians because she heard heavenly music in her heart on her wedding day. Though she had consecrated herself to Christ, her parents forced her to marry. However, her witness to the love of God led to her husband’s conversion. He respected Cecilia’s vow and later consecrated himself to Christ as well. This week’s question: Many of our young parishioners attend

Bishop Hartley High School and Cristo Rey High School. When were these two high schools founded?

The Annual Church Picnic is this Sunday, July 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come and have a great afternoon with your

Christ the King family! If you are able, please bring a covered dish – an appetizer, salad, side dish, or dessert. We look forward to seeing you at the event. (This event is bilingual.) Our parish will welcome Fr. Joseph Jablonski, MSC, the weekend of August 8-9. Fr. Jablonski is a Missionary of the

Sacred Heart. The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart serve the global community and help others experience God’s healing and compassion by spreading the Gospel to those who are poor, isolated, and marginalized. Fr. Jablonski’s visit will be a reminder to us that the Church is missionary by nature, and he will invite us to help support the missionary efforts of his community. Registration for Parish School of Religion (PSR) and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will end this Friday.

We ask that all first through eighth graders of the parish who do not attend a Catholic school participate in PSR. Adults who would like to receive Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation in the Church are encouraged to join the RCIA. For more information, please call the parish office (614-237-0401). Corazón. Los Misioneros del Sagrado Corazón sirven a la comunidad global y ayudan a los demás a experimentar la sanación y compasión de Dios llevando el Evangelio a los pobres, aislados, y marginados. How much do you know about Natural Family Planning (NFP)? NFP uses modern scientific knowledge of fertility to allow

married couples to safely and effectively achieve or postpone pregnancy without the use of drugs or devices. It is an all-natural way of planning a family with positive sideffects: better communication between spouses, increased emotional maturity, and growth in respect for God’s plan for fertility. Engaged and married couples are invited to learn the science of Natural Family Planning by attending an upcoming diocesan NFP class.
