At this holiday time many of us are blessed with the joy of family and friends around us to celebrate the season and to enjoy the giving and receiving that comes with this special season.

However, there are also others in our community who are not so fortunate and who might need our help, not just at this season but throughout the year.

In December each year RF&G Insurance looks within our communities to see where we can add some cheer and this year we have selected Mercy Kitchen as our Christmas Season Charity. This organization is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, who first arrived in Belize on January 20, 1883. The Center is comprised of two facilities – Mercy Clinic and Mercy Kitchen – both of which seek to address the various needs of the elderly, especially those who live at or below the poverty level. Today the Mercy Kitchen serves two meals a day to guests who come to the Center as well as delivers meals to those guests who have become too frail to leave their homes. In addition to attending to the nutritional needs of the population it serves, there are also socialization activities, spiritual enrichment opportunities as well as bath and laundry facilities for the homeless.
