The one percent of Chinese citizens who consider themselves Christians
unofficially, and usually privately, celebrate
Christmas.
In China, December 25 is
not a legal holiday.

They decorate their Christmas trees, which they call
"Trees of Light," with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper
lanterns.
Christians in China celebrate by lighting their
houses with beautiful paper
lanterns.

The Chinese Christians they sit
down with relatives to a large meal on Christmas day, but
it could be served at either lunch or dinner. Usually
instead of turkey, they prepare foods such as roast pork, chicken, soup with bull ears and rice
salad.

The weather in China is not the most ideal
for Christmas. Normally there is a wet
weather and freezing cold but usually it
never snows. It rains a lot and there’s fog.

Chinese Children hang muslin stockings and
await a visit from Santa Claus, who they call Dun Che Lao Ren (dwyn-chuh-lau-oh-run) which means
"Christmas Old Man.“ Who puts the presents
under the Christmas tree as required by tradition.
