CHRISTMAS STAR-2-

1. CUTTINGFrom the background fabric, cut1 square 22 3/8“ x 22 3/8“, cut into quarters diagonally to make 4 triangles (A)1 square 15 ½“ x 15 ½“ (B)2 squares 11 ½“ x 11 ½“, cut in half diagonally to make 4 triangles (C) 32 squares 3 7/8“ x 3 7/8“ (E) 16 squares 3 ½“ x 3 ½“ (D)

For each star, cut from assorted prints (light background fabrics are already included in the cutting notes above)

5 squares 3 ½“ x 3 ½“ (D)8 squares 3 7/8“ x 3 7/8“ (E) 4 rectangles 6 1/2“ x 3 1/2“ (F)

Cut for a total of 4 Stars

Binding: 5 strips 2“ x width of fabric; sew the strips end to end for the binding.

2. ASSEMBLING THE BLOCKSFrom two E squares (background and print) sew a half square triangle set. Make a total of 8 half square triangles (finished size 3 1/2“ x 3 1/2“).

Arrange the half square triangles and remaining patches D and F in three rows as shown. Join the units into rows and press. Sew the rows together and press to complete the block. The finished block should measure 15 1/2“ x 15 1/2“ including seam allowances. Make a total of four blocks.

3. ASSEMBLING THE QUILT TOPReferring to the quilt layout diagramm lay out four blocks and the B middle square. Fill in the edges and corners with the A and C triangles. Join into diagonal rows and join rows into a square.

4. FINISHING THE QUILTBuild a quilt sandwich, quilt and bind.
