Page 3 – MY VALUESPage 3 – MY VALUES
• My Values:– What will I do to realize my dream?– What am I willing to spend my time, money,
and effort on doing?– These are the steps I will take to make my
dream become a reality.– I know my real values by what I actually do,
not simply by what I would like to do.
Page 4 – MY SACRIFICESPage 4 – MY SACRIFICES
• What will I sacrifice to achieve my Dream?– Name the things you gave up or will give up to
make your dream come true.– When we make decisions we automatically
make choices between "A" and "B". Name some of the things you will not be able to do because your dream excludes them as possibilities.
– What challenges will you face?
MY VALUES
• The things I’m willing to spend my money, my time, and my effort doing to bring about MY DREAM / MY BIG GOAL.
• People, places, and things of great worth to me in the pursuit of my GOAL.
MY SACRIFICES
• Good things I will not be able to have or to do as I choose other good things along the path to MY DREAM / MY BIG GOAL.
• Challenges I will face to accomplish my GOAL.

Page 5 – Jesus’ Image of GodPage 5 – Jesus’ Image of God
• Important features of Jesus’ vision of God:– Jesus’ vision of God is a radical new invitation for
every person to have an intimate personal relationship with God.
– Jesus invites us to be children of Abba, his daddy. Children depend upon their parents to take care of all their personal needs like clothing, food, and shelter.
– Jesus asks us to trust the will of God for us even when we do not understand God’s will or the ultimate reason why either good or bad things happen.
Page 6 – My Image of GodPage 6 – My Image of God
• Produced your own model for who God is.– What adjectives best fit your image of God?– Interestingly enough, people have used
opposites to describe God down through the centuries:
• Distant vs. Close• Powerful vs. Vulnerable• Judgmental vs. Merciful• Absent vs. Always already present
Jesus’ Image of God
• Abba = Daddy• God is close to us, loving,
forgiving, demanding, just, and merciful.
• God’s puts people’s needs ahead of laws and customs.
My Image of God
• Describe your image of God. Is your God– close or far?– Cop, lawyer, judge or
Santa Claus?– Sugar daddy, or genuine
friend?– Fair weather friend, or
always there for you?

Page 7 – CONVERSION Page 7 – CONVERSION
• A change of ♥ leads to a ♥ that is focused on two "Golden Rules":
– Love God with all of your …• Mind (Knowledge)• ♥ (Will, Heart, Emotion, Passion)• Body (Strength)
– Love your neighbor as yourself!• A loving ♥ guided by an informed M within a strong B
tested by the ravages of time and life experiences = wisdom and understanding.
• Draw an effigy of yourself: M♥B What will you need to change to make your Dream a reality?
Page 8 – MY NEIGHBORPage 8 – MY NEIGHBOR
• "The Good Samaritan" Luke 10:25-37– Rewrite the story of the good Samaritan using examples
from life here at Roger Bacon• "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man fell victim to
robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead. A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side. But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight. He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, 'Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.' Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers' victim?" He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy." Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
MY CONVERSION
• What needs to change so that I can accomplish MY BIG GOAL? Note changes in …– MY MIND– MY HEART– MY BODY
• How will you need to treat other people in your life to accomplish your BIG GOAL?
• Will you “step on” others to achieve your Dream?
• Will you help others to reach their goals as you reach for yours?
“The Good Spartan”
• Write an unexpected hero story based on Jesus’ story, “The Good Samaritan”.
• There should be a surprising twist in your story as the people expected to be losers turn out to be the heroes … while those expected to be the heroes are selfish losers!

Page 9 – SIN & TEMPTATIONPage 9 – SIN & TEMPTATION
• Different types of Sin:– Original ~ The condition that we are all born with that causes us
to be vulnerable to temptation.– Personal ~ Failure to do what is right, or the individual decision
to do what is wrong.– Social ~ Shared responsibility. The “pollution” that accumulates
from many persons’ sins: social injustices, prejudices, unjust systems, wars, etc.
• Different degrees of seriousness:– Mortal Sin ~ Leads to eternal damnation.– Venial Sin ~ Not deadly, but can accumulate and create a lot of
unnecessary suffering and misery.• What part will SIN & TEMPTATION play in your Dream?
– The “easy” road to success.– Looking out for #1 at the expense of others.
Page 10 – EVILPage 10 – EVIL
• SIN = DEATH• In the Bible the reward for doing evil is eternal
damnation / separation from God.– EVIL is the mirror image of LIVE
• To do evil is to choose death over life.– DEVIL is the mirror image of LIVED.
• Satan once lived with God, but chose to forge his own will away from God’s life and in disobedience to God’s will. His life with God is past tense (over).
• How do you explain the presence of evil in your life? Do you think “bad things” happen for a reason, or do they “just happen”?
SIN & TEMPTATION
• Give examples of …– Original sin– Social sin– Personal sin– Mortal sin– Venial sin
• How does sin affect your GOAL?
WHY IS THERE EVIL?
• What is your explanation of why bad things happen to good people?
• How do you explain the presence of evil in the world? (Examples …)
• Do you blame the Devil?• Does evil distract you
from your GOAL?
