Extended Care Chronicles OCTOBER · ISSUE 8 · VOLUME 8 Corporate Compliance Program We are just past our mid-year point of our annual training on Corporate Compliance and I thought it might be a good time to review- in summary our program. All ECC Consulted Facilities operate within a Corporate Compliance Program. It is a commitment to conducting our business in compliance with all federal, state and local laws. Effective adherence to the Compliance Program will assure employees of negative actions by others. Our Program covers a Code of Conduct for employees of ECC and our Consulted facilities which covers things like Fraud and Abuse, Conflict of Interest, Bribes and Kickbacks for business, and Financial Reporting to name a few areas. If you need to review the Code of Conduct again, please see your Supervisor or Administrator. It is the policy of each ECC Consulted Facility to undertake compliance reviews on a regular basis to ensure compliance with current Medicare/Medicaid program requirements. These periodic internal assessments will include a review of the following risk areas, at a minimum: (1) quality of care; (2) residents rights; (3) billing and cost reporting; (4) employee screening; (5) kickbacks, inducements, and self-referrals; (6) creation and retention of records; and (7) vendor screening. Often times there reviews are conducted at our quarterly compliance committee meetings. And facilities review these issues at their quality assurance or QAPI (QAPI is the merging of two complementary approaches to quality management, Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI) meetings. Again, if you need more information on what you can do to ensure Compliance with our program as it relates to our risk areas, please see your Supervisor or Administrator. Any concerns of non-compliance must be reported to the Administrator who is the Compliance Liaison or you can call or email: Compliance Hotline: 877-772-6744 [email protected] Best Regards, Ron Nunziato, CEO Extended Care, LLC Twitter: @extendedcarellc

Corporate Compliance ProgramWe are just past our mid-year point of our annual training on Corporate Compliance and I thought it might be a good time to review- in summary our program.

These past six months have been both challenging and educational. Leaders have emerged from every department within our facility. When it comes to learning and applying infection prevention procedures and following health department guidance to protect and reduce the risk of exposure to the Coronavirus, there is a strong camaraderie and unity within our building. This month we recognize our Housekeeping Staff and celebrate them for the work they do to keep our building clean and sanitized. That is no small task when you factor in the pervasiveness of the virus. All staff at Rainbow play many roles and some have cross-trained to support other departments, as COVID-19 not only affects where we work, but also where we live and how we manage day-to-day efforts to maintain a semblance of our lives pre-Corona.

We will continue to operate as a united front, take care of our residents and ourselves to the best of our ability, and grow stronger and smarter from this experience.

Rainbow Beach Care Center would also like to extend its sincerest well wishes and support to all ECC facilities, as we continue to fight the unseen and unpredictable enemy otherwise known as the COVID-19.

Jack of all trades!

Meet Bryant, our Environmental Services Director and jack of all trades! Bryant joined the amazing Lakewood team in March. Not only is Bryant a dedicated department manager, but he manages to always have a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He is the definition of a true team player as evidenced by stepping in and also managing our housekeeping department. In his free time he enjoys riding his motorcycle and fishing. He leads his team by example and we are so grateful to have him. Thank you Bryant for all you do for our facility and more importantly the residents.

Giggles, curls, ribbons and bows!

We are down to the last few weeks with Kathy, our Director of Business Development, as she prepares for the arrival of her baby girl who is due in October. The Lakewood team had a surprise baby sprinkle to send Kathy off with some much needed pink items. We wish Kathy and her family lots of love and joy with their new addition.

In honor of Environmental Services/Housekeeping Week, Dyer Nursing and Rehab and Sheffield Manor Assisted Living would like to recognize all the amazing housekeeping staff! Denise Moore, the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor has been with Dyer for 8 years! As a token of appreciation for all the housekeeper and environmental service staff, we

threw a pizza party and gave gifts from Positive Promotions. Denise mentioned that her staffs’ days are highlighted by being able to interact and talk with our Residents! Although it is a challenge to find the right fit for the job, many of the housekeeping staff have been at the facility for years. Karen James, a housekeeper, has been hard at work and shines in her job for 10+ years. “T” Miller, a porter, has been with Dyer and Sheffield for over 10 years as well, and always is there for to lend a helping hand to her fellow co-workers! We want to give our gratitude for all the hard work our housekeeping staff has done now, and especially all the dedication that has gone into helping with infection control and cleaning with Covid-19!

Thanks to ALL our Dyer Nursing and Rehab and Sheffield Manor Environmental Services/Housekeeping Staff!
