TRUST Keys hold great signi icance for those who carry them. They represent the trust and authority of the owner when given to another person. We may give our house key to a trusted friend to take care of our matters while we are away. We may give keys to someone responsible for maintaining or working in a particular building. Keys to vehicles are given to people who have proven themselves responsible drivers. The readings today focus on this kind of trust—the trust that conveys authority and responsibility. In the irst reading, the symbol is speci ically that of a key; but the second reading and the Gospel also speak of trust and leadership as they refer to the earthly church that Jesus established. Dear Parishioners,

This month of August contains beautiful feasts in honor of our Blessed Mother. Recall

on August 2nd, we celebrated Mary under the title, Our Lady of Angels. Last Saturday we

celebrated the feast of Mary’s Assumption, body and soul into heaven. Saturday, August 22nd,

we recognize the Queenship of Mary. This Marian feast was created by Pope Pius XII on

October 11, 1954. Mary has always been portrayed in our Catholic tradition as Queen and now

we also honor her as Queen of heaven, as well as earth. The best way we can celebrate the

Queenship of Mary is by honoring her with our devotion and love of her son, Jesus. Let us

continue to love our Queen and live upright and devout lives in this world.

A very special word of thanks to members of our Spanish community who volunteered

their time by cleaning our church last Friday evening. I was humbled by the love of their parish.

Thank you so very much!

I am very happy to welcome our pastoral year Seminarian, Timothe Cherelus, to Our

Lady of Angels. Timothe is in formation, please God, to serve the Church in the Diocese of

Brooklyn, as a priest of Jesus Christ. I am honored that Bishop DiMarzio has entrusted us with

his ongoing formation. I have been blessed to have had a number of seminarians assigned to me

while I was pastor of St. Sebastian in Woodside. I was the Vocation Director for the Diocese of

Brooklyn and truly enjoyed the beautiful ministry of helping young people to discern a possible

vocation to the priesthood in today’s counter culture society. Timothe will be with us until July

16 of 2021. During this pastoral year he will begin to put into practice the theology and the

necessary spiritual disciplines that will help him to be the best priest possible. We all will have a

part to play in his ongoing formation this year. God calls men to priestly service from

communities who help foster the gifts God plants in one’s heart. Please pray for him and for all

those discerning a call to the priesthood.

Buenas Días!

Este mes de agosto contiene hermosas fiestas en honor a nuestra Santísima Madre.

Recordemos el 2 de agosto, cuando celebramos a María bajo el título de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles. El

sábado pasado celebramos el Día de la Asunción de María, en cuerpo y alma al cielo. El sábado 22 de agosto

reconocemos la fiesta de Santa María Virgen Reina. Esta fiesta mariana fue creada por el Papa Pio XII, el 11 de

octubre de 1954. María siempre ha sido representada en nuestra tradición católica como Reina y hoy también

la honramos como Reina del Cielo, al igual que de la tierra. La mejor manera que podemos celebrar el reinado

de María es honrarla con nuestra Reina y vivir vidas devotas y rectas en este mundo.

Unas palabras de agradecimiento a los miembros de nuestra comunidad hispana que ofrecieron su

tiempo para limpiar nuestra iglesia la noche del viernes pasado. Yo sentí gran humildad debida al amor que le

tienen a su parroquia. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Me alegra dar la bienvenida a nuestro seminarista, Timothe Cherelus, a su año pastoral en Nuestra

Señora de los Ángeles. Timothe está en formación, por favor Dios, para servir a la Iglesia en la Diócesis de

Brooklyn, como un sacredote de Jesuscristo. Estoy honrado que el Obispo DiMarzio ha confiado en nosotros

su formación continua. Yo fui bendecido haber tenido unos cuantos seminaristas asignados a mí mientras era

párroco de San Sebastián en Woodside. Yo era el Director de Vocaciones para la Diócesis de Brooklyn y

verdaderamente disfrute de este hermoso ministerio de ayudar a jóvenes a discernir una posible vocación al

sacerdocio en la sociedad contracultural de hoy. Timothe estará con nosotros hasta el 16 de julio del 2021.

Durante su año pastoral, el empezará a poner en practica la teología y disciplinas espirituales necesarias que lo

ayudaran a ser el mejor sacerdote posible. Todos tenemos un parte que desempeñar en su formación continua

este año. Dios llama a los hombres al servicio sacerdotal de comunidades que ayudan a fomentar los dones que

Dios siembra en el corazón de uno. Por favor oren por él y para todos aquellos que están discerniendo un

llamado al sacerdocio.

Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles llega a la vibrante y creciente comunidad de habla hispana dentro de la parroquia, ofreciendo oportunidades espirituales, educativas, caritativas y sociales. La Santa Misa La Santa Misa se celebra en Espanol, todos los domingos a las 10:30am. Por favor brinde una invitacion a su familia, amigos y vecinos. Y proximamente iniciaremos la celebracion de la Santa Misa el dıa Jueves 10 de Septiembre 2020, con la Exposicion del Santisimo a las 6:00pm rezo del Santo Rosario y celebracion Eucarıstica a las 7:00pm. Normas de Seguridad para evitar el esparcimiento de COVID-19 Debemos practicar normas de seguridad para mantenernos saludables durante la pandemia del Covid-19. Es un requisito que cada persona que entre a la iglesia debe traer y usar su propio cubre bocas durante la Misa y practicar la distancia social de 6 pies entre cada persona. Miembros de familia que viven juntos se pueden sentar juntos. Es recomendado que los feligreses reciban la Santa Comunion en la mano y que no se deben quitar su cubre bocas al acercarse al sacerdote y mantener siempre los 6 pies de distancia. Cuando el comulgante reciba la Sagrada Hostia, ellos deben moverse a un lado y consumir la Eucaristıa inmediatamente. La Comunion sera ofrecida de una forma, la Sangre Preciosa no sera distribuida a los feligreses durante este tiempo. El Sacramento del Bautismo: El Sacramento del Bautismo se celebra cada Segundo sabado del mes a la 1:45pm y cada tercer domingo del mes a la 1:30pm.
