The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation CONTINUES TO BE LIFTED. You are not required to attend Mass at this time. You are encouraged to keep the Lord’s Day holy with prayer and reflection along with a possible viewing of a livestream celebration of Mass. Here are some tips:

UNITE WITH OTHERS. It's better not to follow the Mass alone, so try to do so with your family. CREATE THE RIGHT SETTING. Take care of the atmosphere in the room. For example, you could put a cross or an image of Our Lady near your TV or computer, and light a candle. GET DRESSED. Dress for the occasion: you might be at home, but leave the pajamas for bedtime. GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS. Try to attend the Mass as if you were in church, standing when the Gospel is read, kneeling during the consecration, etc. These gestures are full of meaning. PRAY AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION. Although you can't receive Jesus in the Eucharist, you can pray a spiritual communion.

WHAT'S THE RUSH? Don't be in a hurry. The Mass has incredible value, and right now there are so many things to pray for. Pray for a few moments after Mass has ended to pray for everyone: the deceased, the sick, health professionals, government officials and, of course, the Church, the Pope, our bishops and your parish community.

PARISH The PARISH OFFICE is OPEN for business!

Please call the office ahead and place your order for giftcards or mass cards before coming to the office. Remember to wear your mask!

  • FAMILY ADVENT WREATH FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

Advent and Christmas time are wonderful weeks in a family’s life, but our focus on the coming of Jesus can get lost beneath the surface glitter of the holiday season. The Lighting of the Advent wreath before the family meal is a way to focus on the Nativity of Our Lord and not just the coming of the Christmas holiday. This year make the Advent Wreath a family tradition in your home. As you gather together for your family meal, light the first candle and pray: “Lord God, we humbly ask you, O Lord, to listen to our prayers and by the grace of your coming bring your much needed light and peace into our hearts, our homes and our world. Amen!”

Kids Corner How to be ready for Jesus? "Be kind, be inclusive, help the world by picking up trash. A healthier world is a happier world!" https://churchofstjosephaston.org/donate

Today we begin the beautiful and holy season of Advent. With all that we have going on this time of year, it’s no wonder that Advent does not always seem to get the attention it deserves. But if we will commit to living this season well, we will experience a deeper conversion to Christ and find real transformation in our lives as Christian stewards. Why? Advent calls us not only to look back in grateful contemplation of Christ’s first coming, but it also calls us to look forward in preparation for His Second Coming. Advent is a time to reset and regroup, to repent over any misplaced priorities, to turn our minds and hearts back to God while we still have time. We do so not out of fear or guilt, but rather, out of gratitude for Love Incarnate lying in a manger bed. Whatever we feel God calling us to do this Advent — committing to a daily Gospel reflection, visiting a lonely neighbor, or donating money to those in dire need — there is no time to waste. Jesus makes this clear in our Gospel passage from Matthew. He tells the parable of a man going off on a journey. Before he leaves, he “places his servants in charge, each with his own work.” We, of course, are the servants in this parable, each with a mission to accomplish in building the Kingdom of God. Jesus warns us over and over in this passage to remain vigilant to the work He has given us to do because we do not know when we will be called to give an account for it. Our lives are a gift. This holy season is a gift. Let us recommit to living the stewardship way of life. Love came down to us as a Baby. And He is coming again. Be watchful!

Hello All! Happy November! As we enter the seasons of thanks and giving it is a great opportunity to learn about what it means to be generous! Our Saintly Person: Our person this month is Saint Mother Theresa of Calcutta... a perfect example of our monthly virtue, generosity. Our Monthly Virtue: Generosity!! It is defined in the dictionary as: Liberal in giving; marked by abundance or ample proportions; characterized by a noble or kindly spirit. See the below links for videos on generosity:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT09KEM7Iw8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62CliEkRCso&vl=en

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF3yJg45NZY Points to Ponder: Is it hard to be generous when it isn't convenient? What does "giving beyond your means" actually mean? It is easy to be generous when we trust that we have "enough"... when we trust in God, who provides everything we need, we know that we can then take care of others because God will take care of us!

FOOD FOR THE NEEDY Please remember to bring your non-perishable foods for our Food for the Needy program. Your items may be deposited into the red bin in the lower church lobby. 107-3
