Dear Friends in Christ,

Congratulations to Reggie and Coleen Spinello. On

October 14th, Bishop Murphy awarded them the St. Agnes Medal for service to the Church. We are all grateful for their efforts on behalf of our parish and our feast! Thank you.

Please see the Bulletin for the Mass Schedule for All

Saints for Glen Cove and its environs. This year All Saints is a Holy Day of Obligation. One fulfills this obli-gation by attendance at a Mass, either here or at another parish. At Saint Rocco, we will celebrate a Vigil Mass on October 31 at 7:30 pm and two Masses on the day at 7:30 am and 8:45 (in Italian). Additional possibilities are found at the neighboring parishes at Saint Patrick, Saint Hya-cinth and Saint Boniface.

The Novena for All Souls starts this Friday. This year

we will intercede for the beloved dead of our families and parish with three Masses on November 2 at 7:30 am, 11:00 am (First Friday Lunch follows) and 7:30 pm. The evening Mass will be a sung Mass in Latin in the Ordi-nary Form (Novus Ordo) and the music will be furnished by the Our Lady of Angels Young Women’s Choir. For nine days (November 2-11) Masses will be offered for the holy souls to aid them on their way to God.

From November 7-9 I will be away at the semi-annual Chapter in Klosterneuburg. I will be literally in Austria for about twenty hours. I return for the Annual Service Auction of All Saints Regional Catholic School. Anyone interested in attending this event should check out the website for information at www.asrcatholic.org or call the school at 676-0762.

On Tuesday, October 23, the school prayed the Rosary to honor Our Lady as is customary in October. What made this year special, however, was the fact that our Ro-sary was made of balloons. After the Middle School chil-dren led the Rosary, we brought outside, and released it, so we could watch our prayer rise up to Heaven. We will hope to do this again in May. Also, this coming week, on All Hallow’s Eve (Halloween), the school we end the day with an assembly in the parish center featuring a morality play. Children will be attired as saints and we will sing and honor the saints as preparation for our patronal feast, All Saints’ day.

OCTOBER 28, 2012: THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Cari Amici in Cristo, Congratulazioni a Reggie e Coleen Spinello.
