A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR

The month of June was a very busy month for us here at Saint Saviour Parish. It seemed as if every

day there was something beautiful and exciting happening here in our parish. On Friday evening, June

4th, our Senior class from Saint Saviour High School celebrated their graduation in our church. It was a

wonderful ceremony celebrating the successes and accomplishments of our Seniors as they bade

farewell to their second home these last four years and begin now to embark on a new adventure as they

begin their college experience. My thanks to Mrs. Carolann Timpone, our principal, and Mrs. Margaret

Bernstein, our Assistant Principal, for all their hard work, leadership and dedication to Saint Saviour

High School this year. My thanks also to our faculty and staff for everything they did to make this

school year a successful one in spite of all the challenges we faced during the pandemic.

On Friday evening, June 18th, we celebrated with our 8th Graders from Saint Saviour Catholic

Academy. Our evening together began with the celebration of Eucharist followed by their Graduation

Exercises. Our 8th Graders worked very hard this year and we are very proud of them. In April they

received the Sacrament of Confirmation and now they are our latest Graduation Class from our

Academy. It was a beautiful ceremony and I am grateful to their teachers for all their hard work with

our young people this year. A special word of thanks to our Academy Principal, Mrs. Susan Walsh, for

her tireless effort and dedication to Catholic Education and to the students and families at Saint Saviour

Catholic Academy.

On Monday, June 21st, our 7th Graders received their School Ring at a beautiful ceremony held in our

church. Rings always hold a special place in our heart and their symbolism runs deep. I pray our

students cherish their ring always and I pray that whenever they wear it or even look at it or simply hold

it in their hand or move it through their fingers, they will always remember and never forget their time

here with us at Saint Saviour Catholic Academy. As I told the kids at the ceremony, while I no longer

wear any of my school rings – every time I look at them and hold them – I am flooded with many good

memories from my time in school. May their school rings always remind them of the same.

On Tuesday, June 22nd, our Kindergarten classes from Saint Saviour Catholic Academy had their

“Grand Finale” (Stepping-Up Ceremony) in the school gymnasium. They were phenomenal! They said

their prayers, saluted our American Flag, sang songs, recited their alphabet, and shared with their

parents the many things they learned throughout the year. It truly was a beautiful experience and I am

so grateful to their teachers for working so hard with them this year.

In between all these things, I even had the chance to spend some time with our second graders in

church explaining to them the significance of the stained glass windows and how they have helped

thousands of people to pray throughout the years. They were a great group of kids and I always enjoy

being able to answer their many questions. Their excitement about our Catholic Faith inspires me in so

many ways.

Finally, we want to say Congratulations to our very own Deacon Paul and his wife Leonora on the

marriage of their daughter Alessandra on June 26th. We wish Alessandra and Andy many, many years

of health, happiness and love as they begin their lives together as husband and wife.

Have a great week everyone! Have a Happy Fourth of July weekend!!

WE WILL WELCOME FATHER ANTHONY FROM THE SOCIETY OF AFRICAN MISSIONS AT ALL MASSES ON THE WEEKEND OF JULY 9th. AND 10th.

Society of African Missions (Societas Missionum ad Afros) SMA

The primary aim of Society of African Missions is to bring the Good News, that is

the message of Christ to those who have not heard of it, however our missionaries

devote their lives to help provide for the basic needs of the people they serve

through funds raised in established churches worldwide.

The Joy of Celebrating Mass Together In Niamey town, Niger West Africa one of our Mission has 23 churches

also called outstations. In total these churches cover about 50 sq miles with the furthest church located at about

43 miles from where the main church where the priest resides. Most of these stations have no permanent struc-

tures so masses are celebrated in the open air. You can imagine what would happen if you are gathered to cele-

brate Mass and then there is wind or rain? The SMA Fathers have managed to construct four churches. The Fa-

thers personally raise funds to construct these churches. Getting to the satellite missions is very difficult the roads

are not good. They are not accessible during the rainy season and the faithful sometimes go without mass for

long time. Some of these 23 mission stations have no schools, Churches, water and clinics. This mission is strug-

gling to built schools, wells and clinics.

The Joy of Hitting Water!! Several families will share water from this well there is need for more wells.

The water is safer and cleaner than the river water and saves the women from walking miles daily to get

water for their families. It helps also in stopping the spread of waterborne diseases.

We are in need of support to offer basic

needs so that the preaching of the

gospel can go on smoothly. Cement is

the main building material. One metric

ton of cement costs $20.00, Iron Rod

8’’ costs $5.00. We thank you for your

generosity.

parish goal are returned directly back to our parish for operations and improvements.

continued support.

We still have Mass Intentions available for both weekday AND weekend celebrations of Eucharist. Please consider having a Mass celebrated for a loved one or family member—either living or deceased. We are ALL in need of prayers, and there is no greater prayer than the celebration of Eucharist. Each Mass Intention is only $15.00. If you are interested in having a Mass celebrated in memory of a deceased loved one, or in honor of someone who is living, please call Emily at the Rectory and she will be more than happy to assist you.

GOING ON VACATION?

Remember, St. Savoiur Parish still needs your

weekly offering! While you are on vacation our bills

still keep coming! Our church needs YOU to

help support the preaching of the Gospel, its

administration of the Sacraments, keeping its lights

on all summer, and helping us teach our children

about God. Without your Weekly Offering we could

not accomplish all that we do. Thank you for your

weekly donations!

Also, while vacationing this summer, be sure to

include your weekly Mass obligation in your plans.

For Mass schedules around the United States, go to

www.masstimes.org. Now there can be no more

excuses why you cannot attend Mass while you are

on vacation!
