JESUS DECLARES the Lord’s year of favour in today’s Gospel. There are many ways we can make these words of Christ – about bringing good news to the
poor, liberty to captives and sight to the blind – our very own and have them fulfilled. We can be healers in times of trouble so that the love of God shines through us. To be successful channels of His message, we have to put our own house in order: by accepting the Good News of Jesus and inviting Him into our lives. Presentation of the Lord, Altar Servers and Lectors will be commissioned at the 6.30pm Sunset Mass on 2 February.
MONDAY MORNING MASS With the appointment of Fr. Richard as assistant parish priest, morning mass
at 6.30am will be celebrated on Mondays also. If a public holiday falls on a weekday, then mass will be at 10am.

Catechetical Sunday

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ The 2019 theme Christ, Our Mission is a call to all baptised Catholics to make Christ known to others. “For me, to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21). The phrase “to live is Christ” should be central to each one of us. It means that we proclaim the Gospel of Christ, that Christ is our focus, our goal, our chief desire. Everything we do, we do for Christ’s glory. Pope Francis, in Joy of the Gospel, reminds us that as baptised Catholics, we are all catechists and evangelisers. Thus, we are called to give witness to the life of Jesus Christ that is at work within us. St. Pope Paul VI taught us that “Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses”. We need to know our Faith so that we can bear witness to it. We cannot give what we do not have. Our mission, our calling, our vocation as Catholics is to make God apparent in the world. We should let others see Him through us. On Catechetical Sunday, let us recommit to our vocation as teachers of the Faith. Let us vow to proclaim the Good News, to be heralds of the Gospel, to be messengers of healing and hope. So let us live to make Christ, Our Mission, as in the words of St Paul: “conduct yourselves in a way worthy of the Gospel of Christ”. Archbishop Julian Leow

SPM BIBLE KNOWLEDGE (BK) classes will be held on Saturdays from 3.30 – 5.30pm at the Assumption Family House (First Floor, Rooms 1 & 2). Students in
Forms 1 – 5, and interested adults, are strongly urged to join the BK class. The Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles are God’s Word for every Catholic. Former BK student says: “Bible knowledge is less a subject but more a life lesson.” Call Cecilia 017-6242276.
