Our Vision Statement The Presbyterian Church of the Covenant is a Christ-centered community, set free by grace and placed in our neighborhoods to serve and to invite all people into a wondrous relationship with God.
GROW WORSHIP
SERVE
From the Interim Pastor
“Two By Two”
Jesus called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them
authority over the unclean spirits. Mark 6:7
In his charge to the twelve, Jesus commands his disciples to take only minimal necessities: a staff and sandals.
Bread bags, money belts, or an extra tunic were not to be included in the disciples’ traveling gear. They were to
bless a house if received and shake off the dust of the unrepentant. Preaching, exorcisms, anointing, healing-all
were to be the joyous and arduous work of the twelve for the gospel’s sake.
So how do we understand this commissioning two millennia later? First of all the disciples are authorized by
Jesus himself. Their mission is really his mission. The direction of ministry and the power to do that ministry is
God’s, not theirs. That point is worth repeating to most congregations, including Presbyterian Church of the
Covenant. We are not simply an organization of volunteers doing good work. We are community; of Christian
faith called and commissioned by Christ himself. Only as we are moving in God’s direction and power can we
hope to preach and heal effectively.
Secondly, Jesus’ instructions call for lean unencumbered disciples. No extra food, clothes and money means
discipleship should be simplified. As the church today faces its own loss of status and power, it is well to take
note of our Savior’s original commission. Traveling lightly has its rewards. It eases our load. It quickens our
pace. It focuses our attention on the prize.
Finally, this story of Jesus’ charge to discipleship helps us face up to the reality of rejection. To shake the dust
from one’s feet symbolized a last opportunity for change. I am sure that the early disciples didn’t go out of their
way looking for rejection. But neither, said Jesus, should they be surprised or discouraged when they got it. So,
when was the last time you had a door (literally or figuratively) slammed in your face for the gospel’s sake? Af-
ter all, wasn’t Jesus disbelieved by religious officials, disassociated by his hometown and disowned by his fami-
ly? No wonder Jesus sent them out two by two.
During this season of Lent 2018 here at PCC, we’ve been looking at these and other stories of Jesus from
primarily Mark’s gospel. Many of us have been using our Lenten devotional, “Practicing Love.” On Wednesday
evenings all are invited to our “Quiet Nights”-readings, prayers and silent reflection, 5-6pm, followed by a
simple supper. On Good Friday evening, at 7 pm, March 30th, our choir will present Easter selections from
Handel’s “Messiah”.
Also, our Congregational Assessment Team (CAT) has been hard at work “translating” our Holy Cow!
questionnaires into a narrative paper. This document will go to our Session in February and then out to
committees, small groups and the wider church in the weeks ahead. Please stay tuned.
As your interim pastor (these past 4 months now!) I wish you a thoughtful and prayerful Lent.

The PCC Youth Group is off to a great start for 2018 with the 'core 4' still in regular
attendance, along with Kenny's friend Jimi Welsher who has officially joined our Youth
group and was even assigned a deacon! I guess that means I should come up with another
name for the group, so I'm affectionately now referring to the boys as the
FANTASTIC FIVE! :). Jimi also brought his family to service a couple weeks ago
including his grandparents from out of town, mom and older brother. His older brother
Ray is a freshman at Santa Ana College and is planning to wrestle next year. Ray is also
going to start joining me as a helper at future events and Sundays when his schedule
permits. Jimi's Dad was also recently promoted from the JV Head Coach to the Head
Coach of the Varsity baseball team at Costa Mesa High, where Jimi is his star pitch-
er. We are blessed to have Jimi and his family in our midst, so please continue to make
them feel that warm and welcome as we do so well at PCC.
Kenny and Jimi became friends last year when they were teammates on the JV baseball
team. Kenny is now the starting first baseman on the JV team and it's rumored he may bat cleanup this season! Both boys are quite the
athletes, so we encourage any PCC members who are willing and able to go support the boys by attending any of their games. Please
reach out to me directly for further details.
We are now a few lessons into our new curriculum (which still needs a name) and has been going well so far. The publisher is Sunday
School Center .Com and the program is a chronological journey through the Bible , emphasizing key stories and characters with a focus on
specific scripture, so each student is challenged to reflect on the true meaning of His word and how it can be applied to our everyday
lives. Our group is primed and ready to take on this new, exciting and spiritual challenge, so they can continue to grow in their faith and
learn what it means to be a Christian teenager in today's society.
We most recently studied the story about God telling Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac.
We tied this back to Lent and giving up something difficult, along with adding something positive to our daily lives.
Each student promised to sacrifice things such as candy or soda and vowed to do things like read
their bible before bed every night or be more supportive of their siblings and their interests.
My favorite activity was the Sunday the boys found some old stilts that were in my storage closet.
There were 4 sets, so we took turns trying to walk across the lawn, see attached photos.
Jimi was without a doubt the quickest study, but I think we all need more practice if we're ever
going to be good enough to join the circus!
We also gathered as usual to deliver food bags to families in the area which is always a great way
for the youth to give back and reflect on what they're thankful for in their own daily lives.
And on March 3rd we have our 2nd Annual PCC Youth Sleepover!!
So far the “Fantastic Five” have all RSVP'd plus 4 friends, so we should have a good
group!
Stay tuned for a full recap in next month's covenant call.
And last but not least, a big THANK YOU to the Byrnes for our new couches for the
youth room, The Haven, see attached photos.
They make a world of difference and are being put to good use every Sunday!
Have a great March everyone!

One Great Hour Of Sharing (OGHS): Sharing Resources and Changing Lives
Presbyterian Churches usually receive the OGHS special offering during the season of Lent – This year, February 14 through April 1. A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need
around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed. Funds are used in three special areas:
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA): Presbyterian Disaster Assistance enables congrega-tions and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events. Recent examples of where these funds have been used are responses to the Hurricanes Irma, Maria and Harvey. PDA is remaining in constant contact with PCUSA leadership in Puerto Rico. Over $200,000 in emergency grants has been disbursed to the presbyteries in Puerto Rico. National Response Team members have been deployed to all three presbyteries. We anticipate there will be an oppor-tunity for long-term volunteers to help with the recovery.
The Presbyterian Hunger program alleviates hunger and looks for ways to eliminate its caus-es. When the world tolerates the vicious suffering of hungry people, the church is called to speak out and share all that we have. When powers and principalities regularize exploitation, the church stands with the exploited and witnesses to the fullness of life God intends for all. When people are made poor and vulnerable or reduced to objects of pity, the church builds relationships of dignity and equality among all. Even at the risk of losing its own life, the church is called to point beyond ourselves to the new reality in Christ. Praying and working with Presbyterians and other partners, that it may be “on earth as it is in heaven” the Presbyterian Hunger Program helps the church respond to the violence of hunger and poverty.
Self-Development of People is a ministry that affirms God’s concern for humankind. We are Presbyterians and ecumenical partners dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, united in faith and action through sharing, confronting, and enabling by participating in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people, seeking to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice.

Easter Sunday is April 1st. Many enjoy our tradition of bringing
flowers that morning to place on a cross to be brought into the
sanctuary. This colorful symbol then serves as a reminder of the
new life that we celebrate in Christ’s Resurrection. The Worship
Committee invites everyone to bring flowers from your garden or
the store to add to the beautiful cross. The more and varied the
blossoms are the more stunning the effect.
Don’t miss it.

Angels explained by Children:
I only know the names of two angels, Hark & Harold. - Gregory, age 5 Everybody's got it all wrong. Angels don't wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it - Olive, age 9
It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to Heaven, then there's still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes - Matthew, age 9
Angels work for God & watch over kids when God has to go do something else. - Mitchell, age 7
My guardian angel helps me with math, but he's not much good for science. - Henry, age 8
Angels don't eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows!! - Jack, age 6
Angels talk all the way while they're flying you up to heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead. - Daniel, age 9
When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath & counts to 10. When he lets out his breath again, some-where there's a tornado. - Reagan, age 10
Angels have a lot to do & they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window & leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go south for the winter. - Sara, age 6
Angels live in cloud houses made by God & his Son, who's a very good carpenter. - Jared, age 8
All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses & boys didn't go for it. - Antonio, age 9
My angel is my grandma who died last year. She got a big head start on helping me while she was still down here on earth. - Ashley, age 9
Some angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals & pets. If they don't make the animals get better, they help the child get over it. - Vicki , age 8
What I don't get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them. - Sarah, age 7

January 17, 2018 Bringing Jesus’ truth, love, healing and hope
Dear Presbyterian Church of the Covenant,
Two thousand seventeen has now come and gone! We look forward to God’s plans for us in this new year. We are so grateful for the love, prayer, encouragement and financial support that you have given us this past year. You are truly our partners in this ministry in every way!
One of our donors annually provides an HFLC RV Ministry calendar that we can give to the residents of the RV park and to our faithful donors, as well. We are so thankful for being able to have this way of giving back to you! As you mark off each of the days in the month, please know how thankful we are each day for you and how we are wishing you God’s blessings, provision and protection in 2018.
Thanks to your partnership God continues to be at work in the RV Ministry. We have a new member of our group who decided to make the RV park her retirement home-even though she had absolutely no experience living in an RV! It is a real testimony to the sense of community among us that she says she feels totally accepted, supported and encouraged by our little commu-nity! Although she was careful initially to tell us that she was not a spiritual person, she has loved participating in many things we offer as an RV ministry. She has been grateful for our prayers on her behalf for physical healing and is definitely opening up to the existence of God. Likewise, two other couples who also make it a point of clarifying their being non-spiritual and when we first met, are now asking for prayer for difficult things happening in their lives and excitedly reporting to us that our prayers are working! Praise God! Little by little we see their hearts softening toward God and His love for them.
We have also experienced the unexpected death of one of the members of our community, as well as two of the men involved with us losing their jobs. Time of sadness and loss are especially rich opportunities to show the love and light of Christ and the strength and comfort that can be found in Him. Your continued support of the ministry allows us to continue to be God’s hands and feet in the RV park!
Thank you for your undergirding this ministry and covering us daily with prayer. May God bless you richly in every way in the coming year!
Serving Him with you!

THE DIFFERENCE
I got up early one morning
And rushed right in to the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I didn’t have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me,
And heavier came each task.
“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered
He answered, “You didn’t ask.”
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
But the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn’t show me,
He said, “But you didn’t seek.”
I tried to come into God’s presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
“My child, you didn’t knock.”
I woke up early this morning,
And paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I had to take time to pray.

Dear Church Family, As most of you know, my brother lost both of his sons to suicide 14 months apart. Since that terrible day on March 10, 2015, we have been involved with Walk With Hope. The work they are doing is invaluable to our community. In light of what we have gone through with my brother’s family, the Werner's, and what we continue to see on the news, depression is a national crisis and it needs to be addressed. This group goes to junior high and high schools to give student and parent presentations, and I assure you, With Hope is getting the message out to our teens in a really positive, understandable way. I just wish every school would have them speak…they are working on that! Anyway, time to sign up, and pass this along to friends, family, and co-workers who may want to join TEAM WERNER. We really want to make a big statement this year to honor the memories of Forrest and Hayden, and make sure that goodness prevails. The walk is through a nice neighbor-hood in Orange. Or just come to see and learn about this organization. We are also taking dona-tions to our team if you aren’t able to make the Walk. We will be wearing the same Team Werner shirts as last year, so I need to find out how many ad-ditional shirts we need and then get a price on a small batch, likely in the $15 area. Please reach out to me directly if you need a shirt.
Here is the website www.withhopefoundation.org. We are listed under Team Werner. https://www.firstgiving.com/team/366551 is the link to Team Werner. Ideally, if you join the team, set up your own fundraising page and then send it out to your circle of influence! That’s really the only way to make this explode. If asked, they will support you! It’s not hard. There are pre-written templates. Just think, the time you spend may raise the money that will pay for the printing to give materials to the teen who needs it. You will be making a huge impact. No time for that, no worries, just join the team and walk with us! Any questions, please contact me at: [email protected] or (714) 546-8797 God Bless you all for your support,

Lent is the period of 40 days which comes be-
fore Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflec-
tion and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Chris-
tians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and with-drawal into the desert for 40 days. Lent is
marked by fasting, both from food and festivi-ties.
Whereas Easter celebrates the resurrection of
Jesus after his death on the cross, Lent recalls
the events leading up to and including Jesus' crucifixion by Rome. This is believed to have
taken place in Roman occupied Jerusalem.
The Christian churches that observe Lent in the 21st century (and not all do significantly) use it
as a time for prayer and penance. Only a small number of people today fast for the whole of
Lent, although some maintain the practice on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. It is more
common these days for believers to surrender a
particular vice such as favorite foods or smok-ing. Whatever the sacrifice it is a reflection of
Jesus' deprivation in the wilderness and a test of self-discipline.
Why 40 days?
40 is a significant number in Jewish-Christian scripture:
In Genesis, the flood which destroyed
the earth was brought about by 40 days and nights of rain.
The Hebrews spent 40 years in the wilderness before reaching the land promised to them by
God.
Moses fasted for 40 days before receiving the ten commandments on Mount Sinai.
Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness in preparation for his ministry.
Most Christians regard Jesus' time in the wilder-
ness as the key event for the duration of Lent.

“Jesus said … ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Who-
ever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and
everyone who lives and believes in me shall never
die’”(John 11:25–26, ESV
Why is it called Lent?
Lent is an old English word meaning
'lengthen'. Lent is observed in spring, when the days begin to get longer.
The color purple
Purple is the symbolic color used in some churches throughout Lent, for
drapes and altar frontals.
Purple is used for two reasons: firstly because it is associated with mourning
and so anticipates the pain and suffer-
ing of the crucifixion, and secondly be-cause purple is the color associated
with royalty, and celebrates Christ's resurrection and sovereignty.

Here is a breakdown of the $1,125.00 donated by PCC to PDA for both hurricane and wildfires relief: •$225.00 from the general congregation for Hurricane Harvey relief. •$200.00 from Deacons for Hurricane Harvey relief. •$100.00 from Presbyterian Women for Texas hurricanes. •$100.00 from Presbyterian Women for Florida hurricane relief. •$500.00 from Presbyterian Women for California wildfires. Way to go, PCC!!! Let’s keep up the good work in 2018!
Karlyna Macey, Mission and Outreach Elder
Hello Mission Partners in Presbyterian Church of the Covenant of Costa Mesa, CA; On behalf of the Rev. Dr. Laurie Kraus, Director, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, I’m writing to share with you an update about the three hurricanes that battered parts of the Caribbean and Gulf Coast regions. Please see her message below. Thank you, René Myers, Mission Engagement Advisor – West
Greetings in the Light, This past fall, three hurricanes battered parts of the Caribbean and Gulf Coast regions. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria brought violent winds and severe flooding, and their rapid succession left many people and relief organizations overwhelmed. Your faithful and generous support, however, allowed the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to respond with the light of hope in the midst of chaos, through the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). Thank you for your support. Your gifts provided emergency funding in Texas, Florida, Cuba and Puerto Rico. In the days after each storm, PDA was on the ground, assessing damage, providing expert support, partnership, consultation and coordination. Impacted congregations received urgent assis-tance to continue in ministry to their affected neighbors. PDA’s response is widening, providing resources for long-term recovery, working with partners to set up volunteer rebuilding opportunities, supporting capacity building and providing support and training for leaders in Compassion Fatigue and Resiliency. Fatigue and hopelessness often cause a second crisis long after the winds subside and the waters recede. Historic support from Presbyterians ensured a swift response. In Florida, decades of work in partnership and capacity building with the Florida PDA Network (FLAPDAN) meant that preparation and coordination began before Irma made landfall. Collaboration with presbyter-ies in Texas provides coordination of disaster response efforts. Ongoing support from Presbyterians means that long-term redevelopment is accomplished as the love of Christ is made visible in all of the affected areas. Nowhere is the need so pronounced as in Puerto Rico. Throughout the island, the loss of homes, infrastructure and loved ones has touched almost every resident. Many months later, thousands of people still lack electricity and running water. Your support is delivering the light of hope into the darkness of the disaster. From the aid and cleanup on the island, to support for presbyteries in Florida and New England as they receive many Puerto Ricans displaced by the devastation, to long-term rebuilding and development, your gifts have made the church’s response possible. Because of your support, PDA is able to support a coordinator for relief and development efforts in Puerto Rico from the Puerto Rican Presbyterian community. This important step ensures that the work done by the church will be delivered efficiently and effectively and will build capacity should future disasters strike the U.S. territory.
Thank you for sharing the Light with those in need by standing in the “GAP” — Give. Act. Pray.
Give: You have been so generous to us and we thank you. You can continue to support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance’s emergency response and long-term recovery work through participation in One Great Hour of Sharing. This Special Offering secures PDA’s capacity to respond to these and other disasters. Act: • Contact the PDA Call Center and organize a work team. Call (866) 732-6121 or email [email protected]. Work teams will be needed in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico to assist in cleanup and rebuilding efforts. • Ensure your congregation has materials to support One Great Hour of Sharing. PDA and its partner ministries, the Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People, are able to share the love of Christ with those in need because of widespread church support through One Great Hour of Sharing. If you have questions, need help or want to start receiving this offering at your congregation, email [email protected]. Pray: God our Light, Be a strong presence in the lives of neighbors who, having survived the winds and rains, now follow the light of your love toward recovery and rebuilding. Thank you for the generous response of the church. May these gifts of support overflow more than floodwaters, to grow your work of healing and rebuilding and bring comfort and strength to those who suffer. Amen. The Language of Love
The language of love
Embodies more than just words
More than a verbal exchange
More than nouns and verbs
Love is a feeling, a wondrous emotion
Its genesis stems from the heart
Implanted by our creator
A happiness to impart
Love is a sacrifice
An unselfish act so true
When someone else’s happiness
Is more important than mine to construe
Love is a gentle touch
A closeness, a human necessity
To evoke the sense of feel
We welcome so pleasantly
Love is a knowing look
A glimpse of one so near
An emotion to stir the soul
And maybe shed tear
Love is a peaceful smile
Directed to one’s soul mate
Brings peace and joy to bear
And cares to dissipate
Love is a moment of silence
When sound might disrupt the scene
Two minds joined to envision
Our thoughts perchance to glean
Love is not a handout but a hand up
To a fellow traveler in need
Be it homeless, hunger or destitute
Welcomed by word or deed
Love is our Lord’s commandment
With all of our heart, mind, strength and soul
And love others as we love ourselves
In Him we can become whole
Jesus taught me forgiveness and love
The two intertwined together
For as we walk hand in hand
A companionship to treasure

Lenten Prayer for Silence Meditation by Ken Gire
Dear Lord,
Even though I have the same living water within me that
you gave the Samaritan woman, so often I find myself searching
for other things to fill my life. It’s inconceivable that anyone
who’s tasted of your goodness would drink from any other well.
Yet I have, Money, Success, Pleasure, Popularity, Security. In
the end, all dry wells. But how many times have I lowered my
cup into their depths? And how many time have I brought it up
empty?
Keep vivid in my mind the time when you met me by the
well and said, “I who speak to you am he.” And may the memory
of that sacred moment keep me from wandering to seek water at
any other well than yours. Grant me diligence in watching over
that sacred well. And let me not forget that even living water
can be stagnated by indifference or tainted by the impurities I
tolerate in my life. Keep my faith pure so it would be a deep well
where others could come to be refreshed. And as they do, O Lord
Jesus, I pray that you would meet them there...as you did that Sa-
maritan woman...as you did me...and give them living water.
Renew in me O Savior, a zeal like this Samaritan woman
had … a zeal to tell her friends, her acquaintances and even
strangers about you. Not a zeal to worship in this or that church.
Not a zeal for theology. Not a zeal for causes, But a zeal for you.
You and only you…
Devotional provided by Patricia Reilly
Lenten Quiet Nights A series of five Lenten Quiet Nights will be offered during Lent from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday evenings February 21, 28, March 7, 14 and 21 co -hosted by the Worship and Hospi-tality Teams. Each Quiet night will begin in a chapel like set-ting in Room 5 for a guided inspirational Lenten reading followed by short periods of contempla-
tive silence. Following the reflective readings and si-lent time, participants will move to the adjoining Fel-lowship Hall for a simple meal of soup and bread. If you plan to attend, please sign the clipboard roster in the church office to let Wor-
ship and Hospitality teams know how much soup and bread to prepare.

Welcome Micah Wright After a long search, PCC is happy to announce the hiring of our new

Accompanist.
Micah is a very talented and accomplished piano player, who
has much experience in playing for churches.
Welcome Micah!
Why go to Church?
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a news-paper and complained that it made 'no sense' to go to church every Sunday.
He wrote: "I've gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers and priests are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column.
Much to the 'delight' of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals."
"But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today".
"Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourish-ment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to
something!
Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible &
receives the impossible!
Thank God for our physical and our spiritual
nourishment!
IF YOU CANNOT SEE GOD IN 'ALL', YOU CAN-
NOT SEE GOD AT ALL !

DAILY QUOTES about; living with limitations, finding new purpose, changing attitudes, focusing on the positive, discarding negative, looking for joy, and being grateful for blessings everyday!
Your attitude belongs to you, and it’s your choice if you want to have a good one.
2. A bad attitude can literally block love, blessings, and destiny from finding you. Don’t be the reason you don’t succeed.
3. A bad attitude is like a flat tire, if you don’t change it, you’ll never go anywhere.
4. Attitude is contagious, is yours worth catching?
5. You are not born a winner; you are not born a loser; you are born a chooser.
6. The past should be left in the past or it can steal your future.
7. Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrating for everything it is.
8. Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.
9. Choose to have an attitude of gratitude.
10.You can’t make a positive life with a negative mind.
11.If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else.
12.Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. If you constantly color your picture gray, your picture will always be bleak. If you add some bright colors to it with a little humor, your picture begins to lighten up.
13.Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.
14. A negative thinker sees difficulty in every opportunity; a positive thinker sees an opportunity in every difficulty.
15.The only disability in life is a bad attitude.
16.Decide today is going to be a good day.

The purpose of the Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) which was administered by Holy Cow! Con-sulting in November is to help during our time of transition toward finding a permanent pastor. The inventory is designed to guide PCC in the direction we want to go and what we are willing to do to achieve our goals. The Congregational Assessment Team (CAT) consisting of Pastor Charles, Corrie Allen, Don Beard, Gwen Black, Jim Clarke, and June Elsten have met to process all the data and then write a report to be disseminated to the congregation. During the next weeks we will be meeting with Session, study groups, and holding open meetings to explain the findings and answer any questions stemming from this assessment. We look forward for your comments. Continue to pray for God’s guidance as He leads us down this road of new beginnings.

Dear PCC Family,
February has brought us the chill of winter. But we’ve also enjoyed watching the Winter Olympics-the thrill of
victory and the agony of defeat. The perseverance and dedication of all of these athletes is so inspiring.
I was a bachelor for about 5 days this month, while Corrie, our daughter and granddaughter went to Florida for the
national High School Cheer competition. It was wonderful that they also took the opportunity
to visit both of my older sisters Brenda and Merry, who we have not seen in quite awhile.
Shortly after they returned, my
brother and his wife, Clay and Jane
Allen, from Shelton, Washington
spent some time with us. What a
joy! We worked on some home
projects, played cards and was
thrilled they came to church with us.
My brother and I are very close
especially being only a year apart in age.
I am truly blessed.
I don’t know about you, but it is so wonderful so see our
PCC children and youth in church each Sunday. Pastor
Charles is connecting with them and all of us.
It is great news to hear about the “Free Prayers” sign which is placed outside everyday in front of our church is
bringing in strangers asking for prayer, comfort and inspiration. Thank you Pastor
Charles and Bob Rasmussen for making a dif-
ference.
Keep the submittals for the Covenant Call
coming and I hope you are sharing our
newsletter with others.
Thank you Nancy Ross for making a difference
in our day. Your thank you note was so kind
and appreciated. Our PCC family is amazing in
every way. God is the center of our every day
lives and we are all blessed to be part of His
family here at PCC.
I hope to see you in church, especially on Good Friday,,.. since I enjoy singing so much
and the choir will be singing a special presentation, songs from the Handel’s Messiah.
You keep me inspired. I wish you a blessed Easter and remember as “followers of Christ” why we celebrate
Easter. “He is not here; he has risen” Matthew 28:6
Christ is risen, He is risen indeed!
With a grateful heart,
Sam Allen
