CHURCH OF THE SAVIOUR FOUNDATION
ANNUAL REPORT Living Legacies. Living Faith. Est. 1955
The COTS Foundation supported Rev. Amanda Moseng in her position as Pastor of Discipleship. Rev. Moseng is standing by a banner she created for her West Ohio Conference ordination ceremony on September 12, 2020.
The COTS Foundation provided a grant to purchase new banners for the sanctuary.
FROM THE FOUNDATION CHAIR
We give thanks Giver of all good gifts, we rejoice in the legacy of the saints who have gone before us and in the ongoing faithfulness of those who carry on their work. For all that we have accomplished together and for all that we will yet do, we give you all the thanks and praise. In the name of the One who gave everything for us, we celebrate and pray.
INVESTMENTS: December 31, 2019 $12,317,742
Gifts & Bequests $40,246
Grants ($444,062)
INVESTMENTS: December 31, 2020 $13,702,074
I stepped into the role as Foundation Chair during an unprecedented time, and it was a blessing to witness how the generosity of our COTS family was put to work to serve the church and the community. We could not have predicted the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had across the world and in our own faith community. The church’s shift to livestream services for over a year was made possible through a Foundation grant for livestream equipment for the Sanctuary.
The Foundation provides long-term, permanent support to church programs, to our beautiful
building, and to our members and greater church community. In the past 15 years, the Foundation has made over $5,000,000 in building and programming grants. During 2020 alone, the Foundation distributed over $400,000 in program grants and capital funds.
Approximately two-thirds of grants distributed each year go towards debt reduction and maintenance of the building. Even while the congregation did not meet in the church, the 94-year-old building still required repair – roof and elevator repair, window reglazing, and parking lot maintenance were all completed in 2020. The remaining one-third of grantmaking goes towards programming, inside and outside of the church.
I am grateful to my fellow Foundation Trustees for their stewardship of these funds. They have worked hard (over long Zoom calls and virtual presentations) to make thoughtful decisions on
grant requests and on protecting and investing the Foundation assets.
On behalf of the Foundation Trustees, please accept our gratitude for the many ways in which you give back to the COTS community through memorial gifts, annual gifts, planned gifts, and endowed funds. Your generosity allows for preserving and maintaining our historic church and programs that support the spiritual growth and formation of generations to come. The Foundation welcomes gifts in any amount and for any reason. With your support, we as a Church can continue to raise up God in this community and bring new life to greater heights. Adrienne Mundorf Chair, Church of the Saviour Foundation
HOW TO GIVE TO THE FOUNDATION The Foundation welcomes gifts in any amount. Memorial: A simple and effective way to glorify God in memory of a friend, loved one, or fellow church member. Memorials are the most common and frequent gifts to the Foundation. Special Occasion: Donors may give a gift to honor or memorialize people, events, or significant church occasions such as a milestone birthday, family celebration, baptism, marriage, or anniversary.
Annual Gift: Annual gifts are encouraged by the Foundation and are recognized in the annual report. Giving levels include: Benefactor $500+, Fellow $100-499, Sponsor $50-99, and Member $25-49.
Bequest: The easiest and most common planned gift, a bequest provides for a gift to be given after death. Insurance: Donors may designate the Foundation as a beneficiary on an insurance policy.
Charitable Gift Annuity: With a minimum gift of $15,000, an individual or couple may receive annuity payments for life, with the remainder passing to the Foundation upon the individual or couple’s death.
Charitable Remainder Trust: Donors may make a substantial gift now, receive tax benefits, and realize income. It is more flexible, more complicated, and usually involves an attorney to document. Property: Donors may give gifts of property, including shares of stock and other marketable securities.
Please contact the church office to learn more about the Foundation and ways to give. Call 216-321-8880 or email [email protected].
