Families pay dearly facing record prices for half-term ¬holidays this month as schools crack down on term- time ¬holidays. A trip to Benidorm with Thomas Cook would cost £615 for a family of four in the week before February half-term. But as soon as the children break up from school, prices rocket, according to comparison site travelsupermarket.com . The same Benidorm trip will cost £1,099 – which is a huge increase of ¬nearly 80%. Other popular spots are also marked-up by holiday ¬operators who say prices are determined by supply and demand. But since tough new holiday guidelines for schools were introduced last year, parents have found it extra-hard to take their youngsters on a break. And those who do can face court fines under anti-truancy laws. This week school governor Paul Lawton, 42, and his wife, of macclesfield, Cheshire, were fined a total £190 for taking their 13-year-old daughter to spain.A couple in Telford, shrops, who refused to pay have had penalties increased to £1,000.Labour mP dave Anderson said: “I totally accept the need for children to keep up a good school attendance but holidays are also valuable in building character, acquiring new experiences and relaxing. I am worried poorer parents and children just don’t get the break they need.”A department of education

spokesman said: “We are giving schools the power to set their own term dates. We want more parents asking schools for changes to term dates that will work for families.”Benidorm: don Giorgio, 2-star, self-catering (cheapest option), Thomas Cook.Feb 9-16 (before half-term): £615Feb 16-23 (half-term): £1,099Feb 23-march 2 (week after): £603majorca: Lago Garden Hotel self- catering, 5-star, Travel republic.Feb 9-16: £345Feb 16-23: £721Feb 23-march 2: £345All prices for family of four.Talking to families in the uk most couples agreed that working hard and having to budget is difficult enough but when it comes to taking holidays the prices go sky high during the school dates.

Children’s education is important but do families not deserve a holiday without having to pay double? Families say that by letting the schools decide if term time is allowed for holidays that can be based on a child’s attendance and if that can work the maybe even to set extra home work when they return to catch up on things they’ve missed. some families and teachers would welcome the extra incentive and reward of being allowed to take holidays during term time so that children could see that making the most from their lessons and improving their marks. The best half term deal we found for half term week for a family of four staying at Hotel dynastic All inclusive with First Choice Holidays £1,927 that is £481.84 per person including flights and airport transfers.

The Plaza boasts multiple screens, a big projector screen all in comfortable lighting so you get to experience sport without straining your eyes or blazing sunshine glaring off the screen. i asked katy at “The Plaza” why they are so busy and where all these welsh fans came from and she told me, “They come back every year, it’s been going for about 7/8 years now and each year it’s busier, the fans bring their friends and family and really enjoy the atmosphere”. katy went on to say that it gets even better as the competition goes on.vincent’s corner pubs “The Plaza” “The White Horse” and “The Triangle” are fantastic venues for anyone wanting to watch live sport in the rincon area, if you can’t make it up that far why not try yorkshire Pride on Call Gerona. Capital of La Marina Baixa, Villajoyosa (Villajoyosa), also known as “La Vila”, begins to see the peaks of the mountains Aitana and Puig Campana barrier defending the region from the north winds and temperatures can enjoy very nice round. Its walled historic centre, next to Amadorio River, has a colourful coastal front occupied by houses painted in colours that were located from ships by sailors. The parish church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Gothic, has an interesting baroque altarpiece. Visit the harbour can enjoy the evening with lively auction of fish and shellfish caught during the day. La Vila has three and a half miles of beaches, the closest the Central and Paradis, and one with clear water also called De Torres, where the archaeological site of the tower is located and the Cross of Saint Joseph, popularly known Tower of Hercules. The seafaring tradition of Villajoyosa is revived in its celebrations of the end of July, when the Moors arriving by sea to face the Christian side. As old as famous is the chocolate industry of Villajoyosa. Local factories gladly open their doors to travellers visiting the city. The first settlements in La Vila Joiosa date back from the Bronze Age. The hill where the Old Town is located nowadays was an Iberian town, and there are well-founded reasons to identify Villajoyosa with the Alonis of the classic texts. The Department of Archeology has plenty of quotidian and military material resulting from the archaeological dig on the Poble Nou Necropolis (6th Century).

During the Roman era, the area reached its economic and cultural peak. This results on the identification of the city with Alonis. From this period, a lot of archaeological rests that you can see visiting the Archaeological Museum have been left by the romans to us. During the Middle Age the coast was uninhabited because of the constant pirate raids, and in the 8th century the South-eastern coastal regions, known as Levante were Islamised. In 1300, the Admiral of Jaume II, king of Aragón, Bernat d’en Sarriá, founds this town. La Vila Joiosa means “The Joyous Town”, an attractive name for the new Christian settlers from the peninsular North East.

The Town used To have a casTle wiTh ToweRs on The coRneRs foR PRoTecTion and suRveillance. Today, we can see The walls of The casTle, fRom The 16Th cenTuRy, which aRe one of The besT kePT examPles of The fiRsT miliTaRy aRchiTecTuRe of The Renaissance in sPain.

According to the tradition, the inhabitants of La Vila Joiosa asked for the intercession of the Saint of the day to reject an important Berber attack. Since that day, the 29th of July was declared as the day of Santa Marta, which is part of the “Moros y Cristianos” (Moors and Christians) celebration, from 24th to the 31st July. This dates back as far as 1694, and reached the statement of International Tourist Interest

“Coffee and Cake for E1.50. Can’t beat it!!”Reviewed 19 January 2014The lovely coffee and cake comes with a free sea view too! Good service, varied menu, enjoyed a leisurely lunch watching the world go by!

“Decent Food. Good Location”Reviewed 27 December 2013e stopped here for a drink and a bite to eat. This is a typical Spanish / International Café / Restaurant. The food was fine, and, although we did not have any fish dishes, the ones that we saw on the other tables looked excellent. I did notice that the kitchen was of an open style in the restaurant, which was nice to see. The staff were friendly.

“Good food, great view and excellent service.”Reviewed 2 October 2013This place is excellent, a mixture of Spanish and European food. The place is in the middle of Levante beach. We stopped for a drink and spent all afternoon. With every drink you get complimentary nibbles and they just keep coming. We came back for dinner and it was even better. Paella was to die for. And the staff are so friendly and attentive. A definite winner if your looking for real Spanish hospitality.

“Just walk on by, don’t stop if you don’t have to...”Reviewed 29 July 2013After a long day in Aqualandia & Mundomar, we consulted Tripadvisor for a place to eat dinner. This cafe/restaurant was recommended by several as a nice place with good food, but just by looking at the faded menu w poor food photos we should have walked on. Sorry to say it is probably the worst food we’ve had in a long time. The pizza tasted like cardboard with topping from a can (clearly frozen pizza). The pasta was ok, but not great. The service was acceptable, but only just. If this was ever a place for decent food it must have been many years ago...

“Fabulous Restaurant Service & Food.”Reviewed 28 January 2014

We have just had a birthday party meal at vagabond last Thursday for my sisters 50th including 17 of my family. the evening was fabulous, The food, the hospitality , the atmosphere the hosting was all 100% perfect.we arranged the evening via email with Frederick (owner) a couple of weeks previously, starters, mains, dessert. everything was just perfect, not one mix up. All of our family loved the food and the evening. If you are in Benidorm old town looking for a quality evening, Vagabond is a must & Great Value for money.

“Great food again”Reviewed 22 January 2014we found this restaurant on our last trip to benidorm and found the food and service excellent.we e-mailed fred to book a table before we arrived in benidorm ,we received a reply that day and our table had been reserved.on arrival we were greeted by fred who remembered us from 4 months ago, what a memory he even remembered where we sat.we were given a small bowl with a sample of the soup to try and some appertisers.we both had the 3 course set menu at a very good price 13.95 euros.i had the chefs salad to start which is delicious and quite large the dressing on this salad is to die for, then the pork fillet, and for dessert porfiterolls, which were enormous and came with mint ice cream and cream, followed by a liquor of your choice.the atmosphere in this small restaurant is very friendly and most people seem to have been before. fred and his wife make you fell very welcome, the waitress(sorry forgotten her name is very pleasant).we had such a good meal we went twice more on our 2 week break and each time enjoyed it very much. Make sure you book a table here as it does get very busy and you would not want to miss out on an excellent meal at a very good price.

“A short visit”Reviewed 19 January 2014

We stopped here for a Hot Chocolate and a toastie and was very impressed. It was the first Hot Chocolate that I had had in Benidorm that was a proper one. Unfortunately, it was our last day in Benidorm, so we were not able to try out anything substantial, but I was impressed by the cleanliness and decor. It’s certainly a place that I will try the next time that I visit Benidorm.

“Fish & chips”Reviewed 13 January 2014Called in on the way back from old town, four of us really hungry, when we were looking at menu,I saw a sign on the wall advertising fish and chips 7 euros, you know what it’s like when you’re abroad, let’s try them, when they brought them out I have never seen a fish as big,we got stuck in,there was no way any of us could eat it all,the truth is 2 meals would have done 4 of us,it was absolutely beautiful, believe me it was worth every euro,I never usually recommend food, just go for it.

“Brilliant Christmas Day!”Reviewed 30 December 2013We were fortunate enough to spend Christmas Day at the wookey2 and I cannot praise the staff highly enough from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left we were made to feel like royalty. We had a great fun filled Christmas afternoon in a lovely warm friendly atmosphere with great food and great company. We also ate there a couple of times before Christmas day and have to say on both occasions the food was excellent well cooked plentyful and tasty Kevin and Sue are great hosts who go that extra mile to make you feel very welcome we will definatley be back on our next visit.

What is Glaucoma?Glaucoma is often related to a change in the flow of the fluid inside the eye, which leads to an increase in the pressure and damage to the optic nerve. q. how is it diagnosed and treated?some types of glaucoma develop gradually, and the sufferer is often unaware of any problem until it is quite severe. early detection and treatment is vital and can mean that glaucoma need no longer lead to blindness. There are three simple tests that opticians perform to spot glaucoma during an eye test; a visual examination of the optic nerve head, a check of the field of vision and measurement of the pressure within the eye. if caught early enough Glaucoma can be treated with drops.q. WyNdHAms eATery ALBir102 Fishes Fried Last Friday.if you like Cod in crispy beer batter served with proper chips and peas then you might have to wait a while especially if you want it on a Friday afternoon at Wyndhams Albir. There is normally a wait and surprisingly enough people must have been told how good it is because they are more than happy to wait, take a drink and until a table is available. Not only has Wyndham had a record month in january he has broken his own personal record of frying 102 Fish in one day. Only a skilled chef could accomplish this all on his own in a very small kitchen, as well as cooking and preparing many other meals including snacks and desserts. Having a little joke with Wyndham i said "it's not a wonder you are slim" and the reply i got was " it is a wonder because after days like last Friday i really need to unwind and that is helped by consuming quite a lot of beer!”if you miss your local from back home or if you just want some great British home cooked pub food then Wyndhams is the place for you to visit with family friendly. They have a pool table and darts, as well as sky Tv showing the live premiership sport. Wyndhams has delighted the locals in Albir with all the best traditional values of being a fantastic host together with superb pub food. With mum and dad on the side line covering shifts and getting stuck in when needed it is a blessing because most of the time they are in demand it just great to see a well-run family local place to eat and drink. The prices are extremely reasonable and most meals are for under 10€, also available is a choice of daily specials and steaks. The Weekly Buzz recommends Wyndhams and would always put Wyndhams eatery on my list of favourites. What is also great is that you can walk around the corner and find the beach and promenade ideal for a weekend stroll along to Altea and a healthy way to follow on from some wholesome pub grub. Wyndham has set his goals and is breaking all of his own targets and this is why."We have concentrated on customer service and a friendly environment; together with our personal approach it has really made a difference."Tel 966 864 474 - Facebook wyndhamsalbir - quiz Night Wednesday 9pm - kitchen Open 10-9pm (Wednesday Closed from 6pm)

WOLVES 6- SPARTANS 0Last Saturday at the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano La Nucia, the American football club La Nucia Spartans got beat by Wolves Cehegin with a tight score of 6-0. The match was marked by good defensive work from both sides, for several errors in the respective offensive and endless punishment ( faults ) by both clubs .The only touchdown of the game came in the second quarter . The offensive series that culminated in touch down starting in the spartan field , two good long yardage passes by quarterback Russell Cann , one with Marcel Eme and the other with Roberto Garcia, left the premises in the yard one of Wolves. A couple of plays later, the same Russell Cann had the ball to the promised land and put them ahead on the scoreboard. It was an intense match, at times even had to intervene so that the arbitrators did not exceed intensity sporting limits. Now the Spartans enter the final phase of their preparation to face the Next American Football League Valencia, where they will face Swedish Vinaròs Ricers and Ironmans.

It’s all you need for a great read.Issue 17 / 04-10 February 2014

HoroscopeYour weeklyYou’re way out in front of the crowd at the beginning of the week -ready, willing and eager for whatever life (and love!) has to offer.

The possible pitfall: Impatience where you may need to allow a little time. Around Wednesday or Thursday, you can have your cake and eat it, too, if you use a little charm. Put your ideas across diplomatically enough, and see others jump right on board. Aren’t you a flirt on Friday and Saturday! You’re 10 kinds of fun now - just be gentle with those who are liable to fall hard for you. Home’s likely where your heart is on Sunday.

ariesWhatever you’re aspiring to - a different job, a living-situation change, renewal in the old love life - you can get it going at the

beginning of the week. A key now: Get input from those around you, and lots of it. Then, on Wednesday and Thursday, ruminating on what you’ve learned is favoured. It may be a challenge to concentrate, but you can do it! Romance or some other sweet stuff may come knocking on Friday and Saturday - there’s definitely movement and improvement in the air. On Sunday, plan to soothe your soul and rest those busy feet.

GeMini

Keeping your emotions in control may be tough at the beginning of the week. Slow down, breathe deeply and schedule in some

destressing activity. On Wednesday and Thursday, don’t forget - following up is key now, whether it’s a professional deal, something with a friend or maybe even a romantic prospect. You’ll more than likely get terrifically positive responses. You might just be a party animal on Friday and Saturday, and even if you’re not acting wild, all eyes are on you. Get out of your shell, at least a little bit! Sunday’s energy is super, too - what do you want to do?

CanCerAs the week begins, you are on point - ready, willing and able to take on whatever love and life may bring. Just don’t be too

impatient for things to start! In the middle of the week, rock that charm-ing demeanour and you’ll be sure to get what you want. Put your ideas across diplomatically enough, and see others jump right on board. Friday and Saturday sees you at your flirtatious best! You’re 10 kinds of fun now - just be gentle with those who are liable to fall hard for you. Home’s likely where your heart is on Sunday, so nest away.

LeoWhat you think is a spirited discussion at the beginning of the week could be interpreted by somebody else as an argument.

Take a little extra care with your delivery, especially at work. In a bit of a switcher, you may be inspired to bare your soul on Wednesday or Thurs-day. Sharing your innermost thoughts might be scary, but it’s worth it. On Friday and Saturday, you’re likely thinking faster than those around you. Pushing them can either be fun or a pain; it depends on your attitude. Sunday’s a great time for a little gathering.

If you’re thinking about something (or is it someone?) new, don’t rush into it at the beginning of the week. Check out all of your

options - and know that some fresh ones may open up on Wednesday or Thursday. Gorgeous, grounded energy is on tap for you these days, with matters of the heart highlighted, too. On Friday and Saturday, you may not be incredibly efficient, but you have enviable emotional intelligence. Others are shocked by how well you get them. On Sunday, having people over may be more fun than heading out and about.

taurus

Are you willing to compromise with a friend, your boss, a co-worker or a partner at the beginning of the week? If it turns into something of a tussle, Wednesday and Thursday are excellent

days to sort it out amicably. You’re forgiving and compassionate now, making others’ shoes easy to step into (and yours hard to fill). On Friday and Saturday, a conversation could get intense, whether intellectually, emotionally or both. It may be uncomfortable; on the other hand, it may be kind of hot. Sunday’s not meant for big accomplishments, but simple things can be very pleasurable.

LibraYou’ll love a game at the beginning of the week, whether of the physical or brain-teasing variety. What’s key is participating

instead of just spectating. Around Wednesday or Thursday, lend someone (your boss, a friend, a love interest) a hand when they least expect it. It needn’t be a big thing - it’s the observant thoughtfulness that counts now. While you’re likely busy on Friday and Saturday, you may not get the mental stimulation you require. Make time for reading or watching a documentary. Keep Sunday free for whatever catches your fancy.

saGittarius

A relative, a wise friend or a mentor can help put something worrisome into perspective at the beginning of the week. Taking action -even a small step - makes matters better, too. Wednesday

or Thursday should bring a big improvement, possibly with a work matter or in your love life - or just in your mood. Work hard and play hard on these days; when the weekend comes, you’re likely to be preoccupied by intellectual or interpersonal matters. Think it through, and come Sunday, you may be ready to make a change.

CapriCornYour intellectual capacity is stunning at the beginning of the week - formulate some amazing new ideas and make some interesting

connections. Put your head together with another brainiac, and who knows what’ll happen? Around Wednesday or Thursday, life (or your own headspace) could seem dull by comparison, but just set about learning something to regain your spark. Speaking of sparks, they’re liable to fly on Friday and Saturday, maybe in the romance department. You’re a natural-born flirt now. By Sunday, you’ll be happy to simply dawdle around the house.

aQuariusIs somebody hiding something at the beginning of the week? Could it even be you? Try shedding light and getting issues or

secrets out in the open. By Wednesday or Thursday, you might just be shouting from the proverbial rooftops - or maybe this is stuff that’s better conveyed in a whisper or a love note. Find your unique expression; it’s so much better than the usual. Watch your step, literally and figuratively, on Friday and Saturday; you may be accident or mistake-prone now. The arts are in the stars on Sunday, whether you’re spectating or creating.

pisCes

If you’ve fallen off your fitness regime, renew your commitment to your health at the beginning of the week. Starting small is fine

- even taking a walk is a step in the right direction (and calming, too). A certain situation could get tense on Wednesday or Thursday, and you’re not one to back down. But if you initiate a dialogue that breaks the im-passe, you’ll demonstrate both strength and flexibility - much better than plain old force of will. Play it safe on Friday and Saturday; observation’s more fruitful than action now. And on Sunday, your instinct has a major role to play.

The consequences of snoring not only affect the snorer, but equally their long suffering partners! in fact it can cause significant psychological and social

damage to sufferers and many relationships are put under great strain.most sufferers do not realise that there are many forms of treatment to help the condition, including herbal remedies, pharmaceutical drugs, mechanical devices including dental appliances and surgical procedures. The most important thing is for sufferers to seek help from their G.P. who will be able to assess their condition and prescribe the most appropriate treatment. it may be a case of a very simple remedy making a massive difference to a couple’s overall well being.

as Facebook celebrates its 10th anniversary, the world's biggest social network is finding its path as a maturing company, adapting to an aging user base. The company created in a Harvard dorm room in 2004 has established itself as a phenomenon, securing its place in the world of the technology giants."Facebook has made the world much smaller, much more interactive," said Global equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry."Facebook started the social revolution but it may not be able to control it."In its short history, Facebook has become a part of daily life for more than a billion people around the globe.Co-founder mark Zuckerberg described the mission as "making the world more open and connected," and some say he has

accomplished just that."More than 20 percent of all time spent on the Internet is spent on Facebook," says Lou Kerner, founder of the Social Internet Fund.yet in some ways, Facebook could be the victim of its own success. Its initial core base of teens and university students has expanded, and Facebook is now widely used by people in all age groups.Facebook says it has a global total of 1.23 billion monthly active users, including 945 million who use the social network on a mobile device. But some analysts note that Facebook has to shift strategy for an aging user base.an iStrategyLabs study of US Facebook users found a 25 percent drop in the number of users in the 13-17 age group, along with an 80 percent jump in the number of users over

55. "People joke that for the teen, Facebook isn't cool when your mom is on it," Kerner said. "I think it's not even your mom any more, now it's also your grandmother."The research firm Social Bakers says its data shows teens are a big and still-growing part of Facebook."The 18-24 year-old age group is still the largest," said the group's Ben Harper."Our data shows the growth of audience and interactions on Facebook, and while teens are undoubtedly using multiple platforms (as we all are), they are also sticking with Facebook.""One of two things happen to companies when they're done being cool. They either go away, or they transition to becoming more of a utility. And Facebook is very successfully doing the latter."

yes, Wales were a little sluggish against a spirited italian side, but who cares? They, unlike england, still won and thoughts can now turn to their showdown with ireland at the Aviva stadium.Wales fans might have felt a little irked to wake

to all the headlines on sunday about their team’s “stuttering” win against italy in their rBs six Nations opener at the millennium stadium, while england’s “brave” and “heroic” youngsters were applauded for their narrow defeat by France in Paris. And they would be justified, up to a point. The fact is that Wales beat an italy side that will pose problems for every nation in this tournament if they play with the same mixture of cussedness and verve as they did on saturday.in doing so, Warren Gatland’s side scored two tries and made a winning start to a competition they are hoping to win outright for a record third successive year. The fans inside the millennium stadium proved, too, that whatever the politics off the field with regard to the stand-off between the Welsh regions and the Welsh rugby union, they are fully behind their team and captain. sam Warburton got the biggest cheer of the day when he was introduced midway through the second half. o it was a rusty performance, so what? Last year Wales went 30-3 down at home against ireland within an hour of the tournament starting and we all know how that six Nations ended. england, by contrast, were leading with six minutes remaining in Paris on saturday and contrived to lose. Those are the facts. We now look ahead to next weekend for another set of exciting fixtures!

infuriated fans and a dreadful derby defeat mean the storm clouds over st james' Park show no signs of clearing. The sale of yohan Cabaye is at the heart of the turmoil at Newcastle and Hatem Ben Arfa demonstrated against sunderland that he is no quick fixBefore saturday lunchtime's 3-0 derby humiliation against sunderland at st james' Park, Pardew had been encouraging Ben Arfa to become the replacement for yohan Cabaye following the january sale

to Paris saint Germain of a player who was widely regarded as Newcastle's best talent. The French 28-year-old should be at the peak of his career but has only showed flashes of brilliance since his initial loan move from marseille in 2010 was made permanent in 2011. unfortunate and serious injuries have played their part in his inconsistency in his time in england but his performance against sunderland was simply another of those days to forget.
