What is Entrepreneurship?

An Entrepreneur:

one who undertakes

A Social Entrepreneur:

Recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change

Key Distinctions:

Business entrepreneur = profit and return & for profit structure

Social entrepreneur = impact, profit & return & legal structure

Course Philosophy

The course will follow a logical path through various topics relevant to starting a business

The course is aimed at two groups:

*science / engineering / medical researchers either in a university or hospital lab or in the private sector

*social entrepreneurs

The course will be of much greater value if you have a business/social case ( idea?) in mind

MaRS is not a degree granting institution – BUT in previous years we have had numerous requests for Certificates of Participation

This year we will offer certificates to those who have attended at least 21 of the 28 lectures

You will have to register your attendance – either sign the attendance sheet in person at the lecture, or online by viewing the posted lecture and commenting on the video, signed with your name.
