coordinated across the  project and information generated is therefore of high quality

• Consult with BIM Consultants to understand your company’s needs.

• Develop your own workflows that suit your company’s direction

• Optimize the process by regular checks on deliverables and results.

6. Limitations of BIM

Some Limitations of BIM• Not all items are modelled – need to know the purpose of BIM design for 

usages.

• Required more initial efforts – Shift the team efforts to the beginning and reduce the effort for later stage. 

• Clash detection doesn’t mean resolving the clashes for you automatically – require human judgement to resolve conflicts and need engineering knowledge to justify. 

• Require more BIM Practitioners – large demand in the industry and practitioners need to learn new tools.

• Lack of clear understanding of BIM requirements e.g. demand LOD 500 without understanding – Required more understanding of client’s requirements and raise Clients’ BIM knowledge through training

• Required more professionals’ involvement – For example, MEP designer use BIM for design and drawing production

Construction Innovation & Technology Fund (CITF) 

• A $1 billion CITF has been set up

• To increase the ability of using BIM and apply BIMtechnology in projects, CITF provides applicant company toenroll BIM training courses and purchase BIM software andcomputer equipment in the form of subsidy and matchingfunds.

• The CITF is granted on a company basis and lasts for 5 years. It divides into 3 parts:– Empowerment

– Experiential Use

– Adoption
