“Challenges of the future for transformers &
other substation equipment”
Shanghai, China
September 21st–25th, 2015
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
CIGRE SC A2 COLLOQUIUM, SEPTEMBER 2015, SHANGHAI, CHINA
1
Welcome Message
From CIGRE SC A2 CHAIRMAN
CIGRE Study Committee A2 is proud to hold its 32nd colloquium for the first time in China, in the beautiful city of Shanghai, the biggest city in China and one of the biggest cities in the world.
During this colloquium, experts from around the world will have a unique occasion to meet with other experts in the world and in particular, with experts from China.
For this occasion, a very interesting program was
organized in partnership with the CIGRE Chinese local committee to cover topics that are the center of concerns, not only in China, but worldwide.
It would not be foreseeable to hold such a conference in China without covering the Ultra-High Voltage topic. Thus, the preferential subject #1 will tackle EHV/UHV and EVHDC/UHVDC Transformers and its components.
Since our friends from CIGRE Study Committee A3 (High Voltage Equipment) and B3 (Substation) are organizing a Joint Colloquium the week after in Japan, it was a great privilege to have a collaboration with these experts to our colloquium. Their presence helped determine the preferential subject #2: Equipment technologies for substations of the future and Smart Grid.
Finally, preferential subject #3 will talk about Making the Best use of the Existing transformer fleet, that is nowadays in the center of every utility concerns worldwide.
I’m convince all participants in attendance will benefit greatly from the exchange of new ideas, new techniques, new ways of thinking that will then be experimented to improve specification, design, manufacturing, maintenance, operation, reliability, diagnostic, monitoring and life management of power transformers and other substation apparatus.

Technical Visit
UHV Substation Liantang 1,000kV Ultra-high Voltage Transformer Substation is an important
component of the demonstration project of “sending power from Anhui to east”. It passes through the world first over 600km ultra-high voltage one-tower double-circuit transmission line, and sends abundant coal and thermal power from Southern Anhui area to Shanghai. Liantang Substation is the world largest ultra-high voltage transformer substation. In the first phase planning, part of the 1,000kV delivery capacity
is 6,900MW, while it will reach to 10,000MW in the second phase planning. Full capacity delivery of the substation may satisfy one third of the power demand of Shanghai. UHV Converter Station Xiangjiaba - Shanghai ±800kV UHV DC Demonstration Project deliveries the hydro power in Southwest China. The project starts from Fulong site in Yibin city, Sichuan province, and ends at Fengxian site, Shanghai. The total length of the transmission line reaches 1907 km. The project is rated ±800kV with maximum continuous power of 7,000MW. The Project boasts of the highest voltage, most advanced technology, largest capacity and longest power transmission distance in the world, signifying significant breakthrough in voltage, current, power capacity and transmission distance. This project is a world-level innovation in energy area and an important millstone of the power grid development in the world. Dress Code: business casual. Ladies please DO NOT wear skirt or high-heel shoes.
