Growing in Faith
Reaching Out with God’s Love
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Our faith community is extremely blessed with so many
people that give so much of their time, their talents,
their hard work and their great love. I feel so blessed to
be able to work alongside so many of you in mission
and ministry as followers of Jesus. While it would be
difficult to list all of the many volunteers in this article,
I’d like to take a moment to thank someone very
special, who has given so much of himself in so many
areas of our church family.
Rich Rose has worn many hats as a member of
PRUMC…yes even a train hat. He has been a teacher,
a preacher, a leader, an administrator…he’s been
involved with our youth, our finances, our conference
and our mission experiences. Whatever endeavor Rich
gets involved in, he gives 110%. This is the first
Circuit Rider in my 5 years of ministry that Rich is not
running around gathering and editing all our last
minutes articles.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Rich for all
the many gifts he has given and continues to share with
the life of our community. A special thank you for all
the many Circuit Riders that have kept us informed,
challenged and connected as a family of faith. We will
miss your monthly articles. Thank you Rich.
With deep gratitude and love
Pastor Cyndi

If you are interested in participating in this study, sign up sheets are still available on Sunday mornings or you contact the Church Office @ 845-735-2241 or [email protected].

Food Drive
The Outreach Committee is organizing a food drive to be held on Saturday, September 17 to benefit the St. Stephen’s Food Cupboard, located on Erhardt Road in Pearl River. I recently received this email from the coordinator:
Our food cupboard gets very bare each summer and we just learned that the funds we receive from the Federal Govt is going to be 1/3 less that we usually receive. Once again, God provides, and you are telling me that you are running a drive for us! What a blessing!
We are looking for adult and youth volunteers to work morning, mid-day and afternoon shifts collecting donations at the Pearl River ShopRite from 9:00am to 5:00pm that day. Additional volunteers are also needed as drivers to deliver what we collect to St. Stephens. Volunteer sign-up sheets will be available at the Church after Sunday services. For more information please see or contact Kathy Rose at 548-5932; [email protected]. Many thanks to all!

Letters to the PRUMC…
My Dear Church Brothers and Sister:
This week, just past, has been a most enjoyable time that I had in quite a long time. Being here, touching base and renewing old friendships has really touched my hear. Moving away from PR has not been easy. Oh yes, I am living rather close to my family, and I have them to call upon, but at times I feel very much by myself. Many times over the past months, and when I am feeling very down, someone will say. “Oh that is normal, time will see you through it”… ARE YOU KIDDING ME? One does not put aside over sixty-eight years of wedding bliss and not feel lonely. Glo was my wife, love of my life, my buddy, friend, partner, mother of our daughter. No wat can that be blocked out of my mind. I miss her so much. There are those among you who know what I am going through, it is not easy. I am very thankful that I have my ‘girls’, Michelle, Karyn, Katie, Bianca and Annabell. They have done so much to help me adjust to this new life. I trust that the Dear Lord will reward them in some shape or fashion.
It has been great being with you. May the Lord God look down upon you and forever be in your heart.
Mel Matern
A MESSAGE FROM THE STAFF PARISH RELATIONS COMMITTEE
On Wednesday August 24th, Tom Bade, our sexton who currently resides with his family at 121 Prospect Place in a house
owned by the church was informed that we would no longer need his services as resident sexton of the Pearl River UMC,
effective immediately. This decision was made after much prayer and concern for the future needs of our church. With
the financial needs of our capital campaign we have realized the importance of utilizing all resources, which includes the
house on 121 Prospect Place. We ask your continued prayers for the Bade family and for our church as we seek to move together and remain unified as a faith community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to be in touch
with one of the members from the Staff Parish Relations Committee. Thank You and God Bless.
