BILLY BARTON-...•^HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! A certain well-known circus pro-ducer, it is rumored, is now in residence at a major Hol-lywood studio....IRWIN ALLEN, producer of the "ToweringInferno", took his crew to look over a major tenter in

California. Could it be the Alistair MacLean best selling spy-novel CIRCUS? At any rate the circus was busy sprucing itself upfor the visit and I expect a BIG announcement any day now...SIDKELLNER insists his circus will be used for background for theTOM MIX movie....which was looked over last April in Santa Monica. There is still another circusfilm in the works that I amjust NOT allowed to talk about!

MARY RUTH and JOHN HERRIOTTare back from Venezula and MaryRuth says she's had enough ofgoing out of the good old USA.One day the elephants went thruthe glass doors of the buildingand Mary Ruth went right alongwith them. No wonder she's gladto be home! The Herriotts boughta house in Sarasota that has alarge barn and practice area onthe property.

Living expenses in Venezulaincidentally, are outrageous....PEE WEE PINSON is in the hospi-tal. .. .What *s this I hear aboutMr. and Mrs. NICKY YOUNG buyingthemselves a round bed that hasa TV set built into it?...ALBER-TO ZOPPE back from Italy wherehe had that hip operation...KARLWALLENDA is now 71....Is that anew comedy act FAY ALEXANDER isbreaking in - the one involvingoranges and a ladder, and abreakaway of both, with Rosie asan audience of one?

DR. HENDERSON did not breakhis arm, he broke his hand whichseems to me to be the classicexample of half a dozen of oneand six of the other! LARRY RUHLvisiting in Sarasota....KAY RO-SAIRE flying off to Puerto Ricoto visit her folks....FLO OLSONa new bartender at SHOWFOLKS....The mother of Hans and Bruno Ro-do has passed away.

Apparently the ShowfolksNew Year's Eve bash was a realbust... .Biggest complaint seemedto be over the music Bewareof a Shopping Center Circus thatdoles out bum checks....They saythat Gus and Ursala's son, Don,(involved in the New Orleansshoot-out)is still hospitalizedand not doing as well as expec-ted.

CARLA WALLENDA, who isgrowing green peppers in her "vietory garden", waited patientlyfor them to grow to the rightsize, but when she went to getthem found somebody else hadbeaten her to it..It is also amystery as to who comes in the

The OneIn a recent issue of the

Miami (Fla.) Herald, assistanteditor John Pennekamp wrote acolumn about the long lines atticket windows for the Ringling-Barnum Circus. One problem, hesaid, was the windows didn't op-en on time and then when ticketswere sold out they didn't botherto put up a sign, but let peoplestay in line until their turncame up

The real show, he wrote, was even better than the circusand it took place right there inthe ticket lines. There werewell groomed kids and sloppy•kids. Some were well behaved andothers weren't. Most- of thosestanding in line, he added, looked as if they could lose someweight. One couple, obviouslycrazy about each other, justcouldn't stop and used theirtime for advanced "making out."

    CRACKDOWN (Continued)

'The fact that a person orfirm owns property in anotherstate is not the determining fa-ctor," says the Motor VehicleDept. "A California resident orperson employed in this stateby an out-of-state firm has toregister his vehicle in Califor-nia. On a new vehicle, intendedfor use here, the registrationhere is mandatory. On an oldervehicle the grace period forpersons moving into Californiaends when the year ends or theplate expires."

Oregon, Nevada, Alabamaand other Southern and Mid-weststates are popular states inwhich to register vehicles be-cause of their low fees. Otherinducements include cheaper in-surance and less smog controlregulations, often resulting inthe absence of such devices.

Firms operating in Califor-nia on a part-time basis canpay a use tax for milage, or apro-rated license fee plan isavailable. This plan offers anopportunity to buy licenses forvehicles only for the months ofactual operation within thestate.
