Overview of Cisco 7962 IP Phone

1 Line or Speed Dial Buttons Opens a new line, speed dials the number on the LCD screen or ends a

call.

2 LCD Display Time, date, phone number, caller ID, line/call status, soft key tables and graphics.

3 Foot-stand adjustment Allows users to adjust the angle of the phone base.

4 Messages button Used to access voicemail.

5 Directories button Provides access to call history. All other features are disabled.

6 “?” button Displays help on the LCD screen for a phone button or function.

7 Settings button Used to set user preferences including ring tones and LCD screen contract. All other selections are disabled.

8 Services button This feature is disabled. May be used for future applications.

9 Volume button Sets the speakerphone, headset or handset volume and controls ringer volume when the phone is idle.

10 Speaker button Used to activate the speakerphone.

11 Mute button Used to mute a call.

12 Headset button Used to switch between a headset in place of the speakerphone or handset; feature may be disabled.

13 Scroll/Toggle button Used to scroll/toggle through LCD options or incoming calls.

14 Dial pad Keypad for dialing.

15 Soft Keys Key functions are listed at the bottom of the LCD display, above the soft key. Different soft key functions become available during changes in the phone’s state, for example on hook or off hook.

16 Handset with indicator light The light strip blinks when the phone rings, and is steady to indicate a voice message is waiting.

How Do I? Solution Notes

place a call?

To place an external call, you must dial “8” first.

Lift the handset and dial 8 + phone number

OR

Press the “Speaker” button, dial 8 + phone number

OR

Without lifting the handset, press the “New Call” soft key, dial 8 + phone number

OR

Press the “Redial” soft key (for last call placed)

There are several ways to place a call. The end user will decide which way is best for them.

dial an internal extension?

To place an internal extension call, dial the 4-digit extension i.e. 3498.

To place an internal “classroom speaker”, dial “4”+ last 3 digits of extension. i.e. 3498 would be 4498 for a “speaker” into a classroom.

put a call on hold?

Press the “Hold” soft key. The line button will flash green. To return to the call, press the “Resume” soft key.

transfer a call to an extension?

During a call, press the “Trnsfr” soft key. Doing so automatically places the call on hold. Dial the extension to which you want to transfer the call. When the call rings on the other end, press “Trnsfr” soft key again – or when the party answers, announce the call and then press “Trsnfr” soft key.

If necessary, press “End call” and then the “Hold” soft key button to return to the original call.

Access voicemail:

Press the “Messages” button or dial 2700, enter your PIN and follow the recorded instructions.

view my missed calls?

• Press the “Directories” button. Using the “Scroll/toggle” button, select from 1) Missed calls, 2) Received Calls or 3) Placed calls.

• Use the “Scroll/toggle” button to select a particular record.

• You may select to “dial”, “edit dial” a call from your history. “Exit” soft key returns you to the previous screen.

• You may clear your history by pressing the “Clear” soft key or select “More” soft key then “Delete” soft key.

transfer directly to voicemail?

Use soft key “trnsfr” and enter “*” + extension. Hang up.

set up a conference call?

Turn a two-party call into a conference call: Step 1 – During the call, press the “Confrn” soft key – this automatically activates a new line and places the first party on hold. Step 2 – Place a call to another number or extension. Step 3 – When the call connects, press “Confrn” soft key again to add the new party to the conference call. Step 4 – repeat steps 1-3 to add additional parties to conference call.

Once the conference call initiator disconnects, no additional parties can be added.

adjust the handset volume?

Pick up your handset, press the “+” or the “-“ volume button – press the “Save” soft key to save.

adjust the ringer volume?

Leave handset in the cradle, press the “+” or the “-“ volume button.

operate the “LCD” screen?

Operating your LCD screen is easy. Use the scroll/toggle button, soft keys, and the keypad to make your selections. To exit out of a menu, press the “Exit” soft key.

To set up your new phone/voicemail:

Please pick up receiver and press “messages” button – or you can dial 2700. Your initial pin is: 12345. My new pin is: _______________.

The prompt will have you change your pin, record your name, and record a greeting. Once finished, you will have a red light turn on if someone has left you a message.

To check messages, press “messages” button

Enter your pin followed by # – your new messages will be played. Once played you will be given the following options:

Repeat 1

Save 2

Delete 3

Forward 5

Mark New 6

Skip Back 7

Properties 9

Exit *

Help 0 - which repeats these options

We will also be setting up your voicemail to go to your email so that you can check them that way (without using the phone) – this will take a little time, so please be patient. Your email (Outlook) must be running the latest version for this to work. Please check updates.
