REASON The passenger seats may have free play when in the full outboard position. DESCRIPTION This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to change the passenger seat lateral brake. COMPLIANCE RECOMMENDED. This service bulletin should be accomplished at a scheduled maintenance period or inspection. A service bulletin published by Textron Aviation may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin kit. Only with written authorization from Textron Aviation can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the bulletin. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. DESCRIPTIONThis service bulletin provides parts and instructions to change the passenger seat lateral brake.

COMPLIANCERECOMMENDED. This service bulletin should be accomplished at a scheduled maintenance period orinspection.

A service bulletin published by Textron Aviation may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log onlywhen the following requirements are satisfied:

1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intenttherein.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONSNOTE: In the Accomplishment Instructions and Illustrations there are two different seat configurations based

on aircraft serial number.• Group A: -0013, -0029, -0031, -0032, -0033, -0034, -0035, -0036, and -0038• Group B: -0020 thru -0022, -0028, -0030, -0039, -0048, -0049, -0051, -0055, -0057, -0059,

-0064 thru -0067, -0070, -0071, and -0075.

1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance.

A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded.

B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.

C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.

(1) Disconnect the airplane batteries.

(2) Disconnect external electrical power.

D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the batteries and external power receptacle that have "DO NOTCONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.

2. Remove the standard passenger seats. (Refer to the Model 680A Interior Maintenance Manual andIllustrated Parts Catalog, Passenger Seats - Maintenance)

3. Remove the seat base cushion assembly by lifting the front edge of the seat base cushion assembly upand away from the back of the seat.

4. (Refer to Figure 1, View B-B) Remove and keep the brake caliper assembly.

A. (Group A airplanes) Remove and keep two AN3-5A Bolts and two NAS1149F0332P Washers.

B. (Group B airplanes) Remove and keep two NAS1351-3-10P Screws and two NAS1149F0332PWashers.

C. Remove and discard the MS16996-24 Cap Screw, MS21043-4 Nut, and NAS1149F0432P Washer.

D. Compress and then slide out the one each S2951-114 Spring and NAS1149F0632P Washer toremove the spring from the caliper arm. Keep the removed one each S2951-114 Spring andNAS1149F0632P Washer.

E. Remove and keep the caliper assembly.

5. (For Group A airplanes, Refer to Figure 1, Detail C.) Remove and discard the existing 3619403-53 (Left)(3619403-54 Right) Lateral Brake Plate.

A. Remove and discard the two each MS27039-0806 Screws and NAS1149FN832P Washers oneach end of the brake plate.

NOTE: Access to all screws will require tracking the seat laterally.B. Remove and discard the lateral brake plate assembly.

6. (For Group B airplanes, Refer to Figure 1, Detail D.) Remove and discard the existing 3619403-73 (Left)(3619403-74 Right) Lateral Brake Plate Assembly.

A. Remove and keep the two each NAS1351-3-10P Screws, and NAS1149F0332P Washers on eachend of the brake plate.

NOTE: Access to all screws will require tracking the seat laterally.

B. Remove and discard the lateral brake plate assembly.

7. (Refer to Figure 2.) Increase the size of the 0.164 inch-diameter hole in the 3690046-13 (Left)(3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod Housing Assembly to 0.166 inch-diameter (Number 19).

8. Deburr the 0.166 inch-diameter hole.

9. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Install the 3690046-13 (Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod HousingAssembly with one each MS16996-25 Screw, NAS1149F0432P Washer, and MS21043-4 Nut.

NOTE: Lock rod housing must be firmly resting on the pillow block.

10. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Match drill one Number 19 (0.166 inch-diameter) hole in the swivel platethat aligns with the 0.166 inch-diameter hole in the 3690046-13 (Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock RodHousing Assembly.

11. Remove the 3690046-13 (Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod Housing Assembly.

12. Deburr the 0.166 inch-diameter hole.

13. (Refer to Figure 1, View F-F.) Countersink the 0.166 inch-diameter hole on the underside of the swivelplate to 100° x 0.325 inch diameter.

14. (Refer to Figure 2.) Install the one 3690046-10 Lock Rod and one S4503-1 Spring in the 3690046-13(Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod Housing Assembly.

15. (For Group A airplanes, Refer to Figure 1, Detail E.) Install the two 3619407-41 Brackets on the seat withfour NAS1351C3-8 Screws, four MS35338-43 Lock Washers, and four NAS1149F0332P Washers.

16. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Install the 3690046-13 (Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod HousingAssembly and 3619403-105 (Left) (3619403-106 Right) Lateral Brake Plate Assembly into positionbefore installing hardware.

17. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail E.) Install the 3619403-105 (Left) (3619403-106 Right) Lateral Brake PlateAssembly with two NAS1351-3-10P Screws and two NAS1149F0332P Washers on each end of thebrake plate.

18. (For Group A airplanes, Refer to Figure 1, View B-B.) Install the kept brake caliper with the kept twoAN3-5A Bolts, two NAS1149F0332P Washers, one NAS1149F0632P Washer, S2951-114 Spring, andcontrol cable.

19. (For Group B airplanes, Refer to Figure 1, View B-B.) Install the kept brake caliper with the kept twoNAS1351-3-10P Screws, two NAS1149F0332P Washers, one NAS1149F0632P Washer, S2915-114Spring, and control cable.

20. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Install one 3690046-13 (Left) (3690046-14 Right) Lock Rod HousingAssembly.

NOTE: Make sure the lock rod is resting in the brake plate notch.

A. Install one each MS16996-25 Screw, NAS1149F0432P Washer, and MS21043-4 Nut common to thebrake caliper and lock rod housing.

B. Install one each MS24694-S6 Screw, NAS1149FN816P Washer, and MS2104L08 Nut commonto the lock rod housing and the swivel plate.

21. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail F.) Remove and discard the 3619407-25 Retaining Screw from lateral caliperassembly.

22. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail F.) Install one 3690046-5 (Left) (3690046-6 Right) Lock Arm on lateral caliperassembly with one 3690046-11 Screw and one NAS1149F0632P Washer. Do not tighten the 3690046-11Screw at this time.

23. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail F.) Make sure the 3690046-5 (Left) (3690046-6 Right) Lock Arm has enoughtravel to fully engage and release lock rod from the notch in the brake plate.

NOTE: Remove S4489-1 Shims from lateral caliper assembly as required to achieve travel.

24. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail F.) With lever arm in locked position and lock rod resting upright in brakeplate notch, drill one Number 52 (0.063 inch-diameter) hole through the lock arm and lever arm usingthe pilot hole location on the lock arm.

NOTE: The lock arm should be just touching the lock rod.

25. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail F.) Install the MS16562-1 Pin common to the lever arm and lock rod arm andtighten the 3690046-11 Screw.

26. Make sure all fasteners adjacent to the modified location are secure.

27. Remove any foreign object debris from the modified location. Make sure that the bearings and trackingtubes are free of obstruction.

28. Install and test the passenger seats.

A. Install the passenger seats. (Refer to the Model 680A Interior Maintenance Manual and IllustratedParts Catalog, Passenger Seats - Maintenance.)

B. Inspect the seat for lateral braking inside and outside of the Taxi, Takeoff and Landing (TTOL)position.

(1) Put the seat in the TTOL position.

(2) Visually inspect that the newly installed 3690046-10 Lock Rod is fully seated in the notch inthe brake plate.

(3) Push the seat laterally without pulling the control lever and make sure that the seat does notcome out of the locked position.

(4) Put the seat in a lateral position other than the TTOL position.

(5) Push the seat laterally without pulling on control lever and make sure that the seat only movesafter a significant force is applied.

C. Install the seat base cushion assembly.

29. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane batteries.

30. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this servicedocument.

NOTE: Textron Aviation recommends that compliance with all service documents is reported to CampSystems International.• Complete a record of compliance. (Maintenance Transaction Report, Log Book Entry, or

other record of compliance.)• Put a copy of the completed record of compliance in the airplane logbook.• Send a copy of the completed record of compliance to: Camp Systems International
