Acknowledging the sources of your ideas and citing the works of other writers are important aspects of academic writing. They help you to argue your case and provide support for the claims you are making in your writing. Documenting your research through citations also creates explicit links between your own research and those that come before you. You can find many books and other resources on the mechanics of academic writing, citation and how to avoid plagiarism in NTU Library. The bibliography provided here is by no means exhaustive.

For more details check the Library Catalogue @http://opac.ntu.edu.sg/ or OneSearch @http://ntu.edu.sg/library/OneSearch with the subject headings “plagiarism” or “academic writing”.
