Switching the mode • Pressing button M switches mode in the manner shown below. • The date is displayed for as long as button A is pressed while the watch is showing the nornal time display. 4. Press button B until the digits of the display you want to correct flashes. 4) Press button A to correct the flashing digits of the display. • Pressing and holding button A in will cause the flashing digits to advance rapidly. 5) After making the correction, press button M to return the watch to the normal time diplay. When using a 12-hour clock for displaying time, make sure AM or PM is set correctly. If the calendar is set to a date that does not exist (such as February 30), the date will automatically be corrected to the first day of the following month as the watch is returned to the normal time display. The calendar does not have to be corrected on the last day of the month.The watch performs this automatically. The watch does use February 29 however. Pressing button M while in the setting state, returns the watch to the normal time display. If a button is not pressed for 1 minute while in the setting state, the watch will automatically return to the normal time display.

6. Use of Alarm and Chime• Once the alarm has been set to on (set time is

displayed), the alarm will sound at the same timeeach day until it is cancelled (set to off).

• When the chime is turned on, it will sound (twobeeps) every hour on the hour.

[Switching the Alarm and Chime On and Off]1) Each time button �A is pressed in the normal

alarm mode, the alarm and chime will beswitched between on and off as shown in theillustration previously.

[Setting the Alarm]1) When button �B is pressed continuously for 1

second or more while in the normal alarm mode,the “hours” display will flash indicating that thewatch is in the alarm setting mode.

2) Press button �A to correct the hours.3) When button �B is pressed, the “minutes” display

will flash. Press button �A to set the “minutes”.(Pressing button �A continuously causes theminutes display to advance rapidly.

4) Each time button button �B is pressed, the displaywill alternate between “hours” and “minutes”.

5) After setting the hours and minutes, press button�M to return the watch to the normal alarm display.

[Duration of Alarm Sound]The alarm sounds for approximately 16 seconds.

[Stopping the Alarm Sound]The alarm sound can be stopped by pressing anybutton.

[Alarm Sound Monitor]The alarm sound monitor can be activated for 15seconds by continuously pressing button �A for atleast 1 second while in the normal alarm display.

* The watch automatically returns to the normalalarm display if none of the watch buttons arepressed for 1 minute or more while in the alarmcorrection mode.

* In addition, the watch automatically returns to thenormal time display if none of the watch buttonsare pressed for 12 seconds or more while in thenormal alarm display.

* When the time is displayed using a 12-hourclock, make sure AM or PM is set correctly.

7. Use of the StopwatchThe stopwatch function is able to measure anddisplay time in 1/100 second increments up to amaximum of 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. Thestopwatch returns to 00 after measuring 59 minutesand 59.99 seconds, after which it continuesmeasuring time.

[Use of IntegratedMeasurement](1)The stopwatch is started and

stopped by pressing button�B .

(2)The stopwatch is reset bypressing button �A while it isstopped.

[Measurement of Split Time (IntermediateElapsed Time)](1) Press �B button to start measuring time.(2) Press button �A stops the stopwatch display to

show the split time.* Measurement of time continues internally even

though the stopwatch display is not running.(3) Pressing button �A again cancels the display of

split time as measurement continues with thedisplay showing the elapsed time from the start(the stopwatch display begins to run again).* Repeat steps (2) and (3) if desired, to

repeatedly display split time.(4) Pressing button �B while the split time is

displayed ends split time measurement.(5) When button �A is pressed, the time that

elapsed during display of split time is added tothe measured time and that time is displayed.

(6) Pressing button �A again resets the stopwatchand the display returns to zero.

[Simultaneous Measurement of 1st Place and2nd Place Times](1) Press button �B to start measuring time.(2) Press button �A when the 1st place competitor

crosses the line. The time of the 1st placedcompetitor is displayed.

* Measurement of the time of the 2nd placecompetitor crosses

(3) Press button �B when the 2nd place competitorcrosses the finish line. Time measurement willstop at this point.

* The time of the 1st place competitor is stilldisplayed.

(4) Press button �A to display the time of the 2ndplace competitor.

(5) Pressing button �A again resets the stopwatchand returns each of the displays to zero.

* If the watch is switched to a different mode whilethe stopwatch is measuring time and thenswitched back to stopwatch mode, the display willreturn to measuring as it was prior to changingmodes. However, exceptions to this are as follows:(1) When the stopwatch is measuring split time,

the watch will return to stopwatch measurement.(2) After measurement of split time has been

ended, the watch will switch to display of finalelapsed time.

8. Use of Timer 1• Timer 1 can be set in 5 minute increments from

60 minutes to 5 minutes.• When measurement is completed, a signal

indicating that the time is up will sound forabout 3 seconds. When the set time is up, thewatch will change over to the autochronograph(stopwatch) mode, and begin measuring timefrom 00 minutes 00 seconds. Simultaneous tothe watch switching to the autochronographmode, the time set on the timer will be cleared.

• Furthermore, preliminary warnings will soundwhen the time remaining on the timer reaches10 minutes ,5 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds,20 seconds, 5 seconds, 4 seconds, 3 seconds,2 seconds and 1 second.

[Initial Timer Setting mode]

[Setting the Timer](1) Pressing button �A while the set time is flashing

in the timer mode causes the set time to bedecreased in 5 minute increments. Press button�A to select the desired set time (pressing button�A continuously causes the display to decreaserapidly.)

[Time Measurement](1) The timer starts to count down from the set time

when button �B is pressed.(2) The timer is stopped by pressing button �B

during measurement. The timer is restarted bypressing button �B again.

(3) Pressing button �A when the timer is stopped,switches the watch to the initial set time.

(4) Pressing button �A during measurement forciblyinterrupts timing and returns the watch to theinitial set time after which the timer begins tocount down again.

* When switching back to the timer mode afterhaving switched to a different mode from the timerinitial set time, timer run mode, timer stop mode orautochronograph mode, the display will return tothe same state that it was in prior to switching tothe other mode. When timer measurement hasended, however, the watch automatically switchesto the autochronograph measurement mode.

[Using the Autochronograph](1) When the time on timer 1 is up, the watch will

automatically switch to the autochronograph mode,and begin measuring time from 00 minutes 00 seconds.�1 The autochronograph is started and stoppedby pressing button �B during measurement.

(2) Pressing button �A while in the autochronographmode returns the watch to the Timer 1 initial settime.

9. Use of Timer 2• Timer 2 can be set in 1 minute increments from

60 minutes to 1 minute. • When measurement is completed, a signal

indicating that the time is up will sound for about 3 seconds after which the watch will switch to theinitial set time.

[Setting the Timer](1) Pressing button �A while the set time is flashing

in the Timer 2 mode causes the set time to bedecreased in 1 minute increments. Press buttonto select the desired set time. (Pressing button�A continuously causes the display to changerapidly.)

[Timer Measurement](1) The timer starts to count down from the set when

button �B is pressed.(2) The timer is stopped by pressing button �B during

measurement. The timer is restarted by pressingbutton �B again after the time has stopped.

(3) Pressing button �A when the timer is stopped switches the watch to the initial set time.

(4) Pressing button �A during measurement forciblyinterrupts timing and returns the watch to theinitial set time (flyback) after the timer begins tocount down again.

* If the watch is switched to a different mode whilein the initial timer set time, the timer is running,the timer is stopped or in the autochronographmode, and then is switched back to Timer 2mode, the watch will display each state as it wasprior to switching to the other mode. However, thewatch will switch to the Timer 2 initial set timeafter timer measurement is completed.

10. EL Internal Illumination FunctionElectroluminescene (EL) refers to a scientificphenomenon in which an EL material emits lightwhen a voltage is applied.

<Using the EL Function>Pressing button �C causes El internal illumination tobe turned on.

11. All-Reset ProcedurePerform the all-reset procedure described belowafter replacing the battery or when the watch doesnot run properly or has an abnormal display due toa strong impact (such as when there is no displayshowing or when the alarm sounds continuously).(1) Press buttons �A , �B , �C and �M simultaneously.

* All segments in the digital display and theinternal EL illumination will flash during the timethe buttons are pressed.

* All-reset will be activated when any of thebuttons is released. A signal sounds confirmingthat the all-reset procedure has beenperformed.

(2) Following completion of the all-reset procedure,reset the calendar and each of the other modesbefore using the watch.

Water-resistance for daily use (to 3atmospheres): This type of watch is water-resistantto minor exposure to water. For example, you maywear the watch while washing your face; however,itis not designed for use underwater.

Upgraded water-resistance for daily use (to 5atmospheres): This type of watch is water-resistantto moderate exposure to water. You may wear thewatch while swimming; however, it is not designedfor use while skin diving.

Upgraded water-resistance for daily use (to 10/20atmospheres): This type of watch may be used forskin diving; however, it is not designed for scuba orsaturated diving using helium gas.

CAUTION• Do not operate the button with wet fingers or when

the watch is wet. Water may enter the watch andcompromise water-resistance.

• If the watch is used in seawater, rinse with freshwater afterward and wipe with a dry cloth.

• If moisture has entered the watch, or if the inside ofthe crystal is fogged up and does not become clearwithin a day, immediately take the watch to yourdealer or Citizen Service Centre for repair. Leavingthe watch in such a state will allow corrosion toform inside.

• If seawater enters the watch, place the watch in abox or plastic bag and immediately take it in forrepair. Otherwise, pressure inside the watch willincrease, and parts (crystal, buttons, etc.) maycome off.

CAUTION: Keep your watch clean• Dust and dirt tend to be deposited in gaps in the

back of the case or band. Deposited dust and dirtmay cause corrosion and soil your clothing. Cleanthe watch occasionally.

Cleaning the Watch• Use a soft cloth to wipe off dirt, perspiration andwater from the case and crystal.

• Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off perspiration anddirt from the leather band.

• To clean a metal, plastic, or rubber watchband,wash away dirt with mild soap and water. Use asoft brush to remove dust and dirt jammed in thegaps in the metal band. If your watch is not water-resistant, take it to your dealer.

NOTE: Avoid using solvents (thinner, benzine, etc.),as they may mar the finish

WARNING: Handling of the battery• Keep the battery out of the reach of small children.

If a child swallows the battery, contact a physicianimmediately.

CAUTION: Replacing the Battery• For replacement of the battery, take your watch to

your dealer or Citizen Service Centre.• Replace the battery as soon as possible if the

service life of the battery has expired. Leaving adepleted battery in the watch may result inleakage, which can damage the watch severely.

CAUTION: Operating environment• Use the watch within the operating-temperature

range specified in the instruction manual.Using the watch where temperatures are outsidethe specified range may result in deterioration offunctions or even stoppage of the watch.

• Do NOT use the watch in places where it isexposed to high temperature, such as in a sauna.Doing so may result in skin burn.

• Do NOT leave the watch in a place where it isexposed to high temperature, such as the glovecompartment or dashboard of a car.Doing so may result in deterioration of the watch,such as deformation of plastic parts.

• Do NOT place the watch close to a magnet.Timekeeping will become inaccurate if you placethe watch close to a magnetic necklace, amagnetic latch or a refrigerator door or handbagclasp, or the earphone of a mobile phone. If thishas occurred, move the watch away from themagnet and reset the time.

• Do NOT place the watch to close to householdappliances that generate static electricity.Timekeeping may become inaccurate if the watchis exposed to strong static electricity, such asemitted from a TV screen.

• Do NOT subject the watch to strong shocks suchas dropping it onto a hard floor.

• Avoid using the watch in an environment where itmay be exposed to chemicals or corrosive gases.If solvents such as thinner and benzine, orsubstances containing such solvents, come incontact with the watch, discolouration, melting,cracking, etc., may result. If the watch comes incontact with mercury used in thermometers, thecase, band or other parts may becomediscoloured.
