The Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly Youth Leadership Program spoke about their program, shared the Woman’s Warrior song and screened their film on the issue of bullying and suicide awareness during Gathering Wisdom VIII on November 30th,

2016 to over 400 people and leaders in attendance in Vancouver.

Environmental Assessment Process Review

This is a VERY IMPORTANT issue about decision making that directly affects our lands and our way of life. There will be 4 sessions this week!

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is a planning tool to predict environ-mental impacts and implement proper prevention measures to eliminate or reduce environ-mental effects. Projects are subjected to the environmental assessments at both the provincial and federal level. At the federal level environmental assessments are carried out on matters pertaining to federal legislation such as: fish and fish habitat; other aquatic species; migratory birds; federal lands; effects that cross provincial or international boundaries, and; effects that impact on Aboriginal peoples, such as their use of lands and resources for traditional purposes.

The CNA is participating in the review of the federal environmental assessment process (CEAA) and are inviting Nlaka’pamux community members to come to this session to learn more about CEAA learn about CNA’s proposed recommendations for change provide recommendations and insight into how environmental assessment can better integrate FN involvement, decision mak-ing, and proper identification of impacts to First Nations.

Employment & Training Department

HVC is starting to do call backs for Sylvan tests, interviews, and medical.

When you are applying at HVC you will need Grade 12 Transcripts, Class 7N (or higher) Driver’s License, and

state on cover letter that you are Nlaka’pamux.

CNA will submit your Resume and Cover Letter on your behalf. Once you are in the HVC process you will have

access to a Study Guide for Sylvan, Mock Interviews, and coaching by our Employment & Training Department.
