Mass Inten ons

Our 2020 Mass Book will open October 28, 2019, there will be ONE Mass Book for our New Parish Grouping

A Mass inten on or reques ng to have a Mass “offered” for an inten on, is an ancient tradi on of the church. The priest celebra ng the Mass will offer the Mass for a par cular inten on. As a parish, we can request specific inten ons for several reasons, including in Thanksgiving for a par cular grace, a prayer for the living or for the repose of the soul of a loved one.

BECOMING ONE PARISH

City Center Parishes

New Parish Name Selec on Form

Recently we held our City Center Parish Assemblies. One of the topics we discussed was the naming of the new parish. Our City Center Parish “Grouping” will merge on January 6, 2020 to form one new parish. Before this can happen, we must select our top three names from the list of six that have already been approved for our “Grouping” by Bishop Zubik. The top three names must be submi ed to Bishop Zubik for his considera on by October 2019. Today, you are receiving a sheet of paper that has six pre-approved parish names. Please select your top three (3) choices by placing an “X” in the box to the le of the names. Please place your sheet in the collec on basket or drop it off at the parish office. The sheets must be received in the office for considera on by 10/4/2019.

Thank you for your prayerful help.

CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANY Summer with Jesus and Mary

The third day was an exci ng day as we journeyed through beau ful Israel to the Jordan River! The river where our Merciful Savior was bap zed! The river where the heavens parted, the powerful voice of God was heard, and the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus! What a wonderful place! First of all, our travelers (the children) had to pass through customs. At that me their bap sm date was in their passport. What an important date that was in their lives! We talked about how water is needed for life. It cleanses. It refreshes. That is why it was chosen as a symbol of what goes on in Bap sm. We talked about the fruits of the Holy Spirit - Love, Joy, Peace, Pa ence, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control.

It was a glorious and joy-filled morning as twenty-two young men, seniors, from Central Catholic High School filed into the Red Door kitchen with faculty members and their chaplain, Fr. Mark Thomas. Their morning actually began with an 8:30 am Mass celebrated in Saint Mary of Mercy Church and so their hearts were truly ready to serve and encounter Christ in and through our Red Door guests. The 90 minutes we had to prepare for our indoor meal went by fast, but thanks to Common Plea Catering, Weiss Meats, and Jimmy & Nino Sunseri Company who together donated an abundance of delicious pasta with meat sauce, we were able to provide a delicious warm meal with salad and rolls. We are always thankful, too, for Spark of Hope - a mission and ministry of Saint Sebas an's Saint Vincent DePaul Society for providing desserts, breads, and other fresh produce. As our guests entered through the Red Door at 10:30 am that morning for a Saturday indoor meal, smiles filled and lit up the doorway as they were invited inside to Lawless Hall for a sit-down lunch and hospitality. "All of you are amazing!" exclaimed one of the guests as another added, "we can't believe you do this for us." What a gi it is to serve and spend me with the people who are need and benefit from the Red Door program. What they don't realize is that they are amazing, each one... for in wisdom, we know each one of us are created in the image and likeness of our merciful and amazing God! Thank you Central Catholic High School and thank you to all who support and pray for the Red Door ministry... may God bless you abundantly! Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom. James 3:13
