Bloomingtonwilljointheranksofmorethan72percentofcitiesnationwidethathaveimplementedorganizedgarbageandrecyclingservices.Theprogramreducesthenumberofgarbagetrucksonyourcollectionday,mitigatesairandnoisepollution,minimizesthewearandtearontheroadwaysand,inmostcases,saveseachhouseholdmoney.BeginningonOctober3,2016,allresidentialgarbageandrecyclingcollectionwillbecoordinatedthroughtheCity.

TheCityisworkingwiththesevenhaulerstoensureasmoothtransitiontothenewsystem.Thecurrentopenhaulingsystemwillcontinueuntilthenewprogrambegins.Atthattime,anyindividualagreementsorcostsunderthepresentsystemshouldcometoanend.Haulerswillcoordinatereimbursementtohouseholdsforservicesnotreceivedafterthestartdate.

Yard Waste Information for Subscribers

Yardwastewillbeasubscriptionserviceforthenewgarbageandrecyclingprogram.FullseasonyardwastesubscriptionservicewillbeApril15toNovember30;subscriberswillpaytheannualrateforyardwastecollection.Partial,firstseasonofyardwastesubscriptionservicewillbeAugust1toNovember30;subscriberswillbebilledatareducedratefortheirpartialyearofsubscription.Thereducedrateforpartialsubscriptionisonlyavailabletonewclientsorthosewhohaverecentlymovedafteryardwasteseasonbegan.Thefollowingyear(s)willbebilledattheannualrate,unlessyardwasteisterminatedbythehousehold.

Weatherpermitting,thefullseasonyardwastecollectionusuallyrunsfromApril15throughNovember30.IfthereissignificantsnowfallbeforetheendofNovember,yardwastecollectionwillendatthattime.Theyardwastecollectionisweeklyandincludesallgardenwaste,grassclippings,leaves,weeds,softgardenmaterials,shrubandtreewaste,prunings,andwoodchips.Remember:twigsandbranchesmustbelessthanfourfeetinlengthandfourinchesindiameter.Pleaseplaceinbags,containers,oronthegroundtiedinbundles.

Existingcollectionagreementswithindividualresidentswillbeterminatedoncetheprogrambegins.Reimbursementsforservicespaiddirectlytoyourhaulerandnotreceivedshouldbesenttoresidents,directlyfromthehaulers,bytheendoftheyear2016.BloomingtonHaulers,LLCwillcoordinatereimbursements.Ifyouhavequestionsaboutthisprocess,contactyourhauler.

Who is eligible for the new program?Residentswholiveinsinglefamilyhomes,includinghomeswithfourunitsorlessandsometownhomes,areeligible.Residentswholiveinatownhomewithoutanassociationandwithoutacoordinatedgarbageandrecyclingprogramwillalsobeincludedintheprogram.

What are the rates?Theratesonyourutilitybillwillbefortwomonthsofservice.Theratesbelowincludeweeklygarbageandeveryotherweekrecyclingservices.Allcountyandstatetaxesandfeesareincludedintheunitpricing.• Smallcart(about35gallons)=$31.10• Mediumcart(about64gallons)=$37.78• Largecart(about95gallons)=$44.44• Garbageoverflow,ifneeded,perbag=$4.75Yardwasteandbulkmaterialdisposalcostswillbechargedseparatelyonyourutilitybill.Pleaserefertoourwebsiteforpricing.

What will happen to my current cart(s)? Theindividualhaulerswillcontinuetoownandprovidetheircartsforyoutouse.Ifthereisadifferentcompanyassignedtoprovideserviceatyourhome,youwillseeaswitchofyourcartsfromthecurrenthaulercompanytothenewlyassignedhauler.Pleasebesuretohaveallcartsrolledouttothecurbonyourcollectiondaybefore7a.m.eachweekduringAugustandSeptember2016toallowforthepossiblecartswitchtooccur.Pleaseleaveyourcartsatthecurballday.

Who will I call if I have a service complaint? Onephonenumberwillbeprovidedforallcollectionrelatedinquiries.Ifyourspecificissueisrelatedtomissedpickupsordriverconcerns,yourinquirywillbedirectedtothehauler.Ifyourconcernrelatestobillingortheoveralladministrationoftheprogram,itwillberoutedtotheCity.
