5.9. Site Inspection Report – St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School and Corsair Public School (Ward 7)

Site Inspection Report for the site inspection conducted on April 10, 2019 on Florian Road, for the students attending St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School and Corsair Public School.

RECOMMENDATION 1. That the Principal of St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School be requested to

remind parents not to stop to drop off students in the "No Stopping" zone on Florian Road in front of and near the walkway at the rear of St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School and instead park on Florian Road where it is legal to park.

2. That the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board be requested to review the operation of the kiss and ride in front of St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School.

3. That Transportation and Works be requested to review the feasibility of conducting a sidewalk petition on Florian Road between Creelman Road and Pathfinder Drive, for the students attending St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School and Corsair Public School.

4. That Parking Enforcement be requested to enforce the "No Stopping/No Parking" prohibitions on Florian Road between the times of 8:35 -9:05 AM and 3:20 -3:45 PM, once signage as per Transportation and Works is installed, for the students attending St. Timothy Catholic Elementary School and Corsair Public School.

AM - OVER 60 VEHICLES STOPPED ILLEGALLY ON FLORIAN ROAD AT THE WALKWAY INTO THE REAR OF ST.TIMOTHY CATHOLIC

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. SOME BLOCKED DRIVEWAYS BUT DIDN'T GET OUT OF THEIR VEHICLES. MANY OTHER PARENTS PARKED LEGALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF FLORIAN ROAD AND ON NEIGHBOURING STREETS AND EITHER DROPPED OFF OLDER STUDENTS OR WALKED TO THE WALKWAY AT THE REAR OF ST.TIMOTHY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

- NO SIDEWALKS PRESENT ON FLORIAN ROAD SOUTH OF CREELMAN ROAD. STUDENTS AND PARENTS WALKING ON THE ROAD BETWEEN PARKED CARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET.

TRANSPORTATION AND WORKS IS CURRENTLY EFFECTING CHANGES TO SIGNAGE AS PER - MOVING NO STOPPING ZONE SOUTH TO ENCOMPASS THE FIRE HYDRANT. - ADDING A CORNER PROHIBITION ON FLORIAN ROAD JUST NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF CREELMAN ROAD AND

FLORIAN ROAD. - MOVING THE STOP SIGN ON CREELMAN ROAD AT FLORIAN ROAD CLOSER TO THE INTERSECTION AND ADDING A STOP BAR.

Recommendations

1) THAT THE PRINCIPAL OF ST. TIMOTHY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BE REQUESTED TO REMIND PARENTS NOT TO STOP TO DROP OFF STUDENTS IN THE "NO STOPPING" ZONE ON FLORIAN ROAD IN FRONT OF AND NEAR THE WALKWAY AT THE REAR OF ST. TIMOTHY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND INSTEAD PARK ON FLORIAN ROAD WHERE IT IS LEGAL TO PARK.

2) THAT THE DUFFERIN-PEEL CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD BE REQUESTED TO REVIEW THE OPERATION OF THE KISS AND RIDE IN FRONT OF ST. TIMOTHY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

3) THAT TRANSPORTATION AND WORKS BE REQUESTED TO REVIEW THE FEASIBILITY OF CONDUCTING A SIDEWALK PETITION ON FLORIAN ROAD BETWEEN CREELMAN ROAD AND PATHFINDER DRIVE.

4) THAT PARKING ENFORCEMENT BE REQUESTED TO ENFORCE THE "NO STOPPING/NO PARKING" PROHIBITIONS ON FLORIAN ROAD BETWEEN THE TIMES OF 8 35 - 9:05 AM AND 3 20 - 345 PM, ONCE SIGNAGE AS PER TRANSPORTATION AND WORKS IS INSTALLED.
