ACADEMIC PATHWAYS Students who enter an Academic Pathway participate in four years of unique discipline-specific learning experiences that mirror a college major. Pathway students benefit from advanced level coursework, internships, field work, co-curricular competitions and capstone projects, and have opportunities to network with partner organizations. Bosco offers five Academic Pathways: Bio-Medical, Computer Science, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Medicine.
BIO-MEDICAL PATHWAY The Bio-Medical Pathway is designed for students who excel in mathematics and natural sciences and are interested in the fields of biology or medicine. Students must possess well developed academic skills, a desire to engage in challenging coursework, and aspirations to pursue higher education coursework leading to careers in medicine or related fields. In addition to intensive classroom instruction in advanced mathematics, health sciences, physical sciences, and chemical and biological sciences, students gain clinical knowledge by working with professionals in hospitals. Students also conduct independent research, participate in medical simulations, and attend lectures provided by physicians, research scientists, and medical professionals.
COMPUTER SCIENCE PATHWAY The Computer Science Pathway allows students to become creators, not just consumers, of the technology that surrounds them. Our Computer Science students enjoy an advanced coding curriculum and completely collaborative projects, in order to gain problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, and communication skills. Students learn a broad range of topics including coding, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and app development.
PABLO O.Spain
“I loved being involved in the
Entrepreneurship Pathway. It
taught me so many different
business skills. My classmates
and I created our own business
and competed at UCLA.”
BOSCO ACADEMICS | 14
ENGINEERING PATHWAY The Engineering Pathway has adopted the nationally recognized Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum, which offers a tested and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program. In their courses, students learn and apply the design process, develop collaboration and communication skills, and hone their critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities. Students who complete the Engineering Pathway will be prepared to complete a post-secondary education and pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP PATHWAY Bosco recently partnered with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business to create an innovative four-year interdisciplinary pathway designed to prepare students for collegiate business. Students learn analytical thinking, decision making, and logical reasoning while researching current business trends and the skills and techniques necessary to launch and manage successful business ventures. The Entrepreneurship Pathway integrates theory and application by blending real-world innovation experiences with proven research models, case studies, and service-learning projects.
SPORTS MEDICINE PATHWAY The Sports Medicine Pathway is geared to students with an interest in athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, fitness, physiology of exercise, kinesiology, nutrition, and other sports medicine-related fields. The pathway includes practical, hands-on application in addition to studying nutrition, taping, bracing, emergency procedures, conditioning, injury prevention and evaluation, rehabilitative procedures, and practice/game observation techniques.
