Roads and Maritime Services is increasing the capacity of City West Link by adding an additional eastbound lane between Waratah Street at Haberfield and James Street at Leichhardt.

The improvement of this two kilometre section of City West Link will:

• Reconfiguration of the existing road space, with no impact beyond the kerb, including pedestrian footpaths

• Changes to traffic lights at City West Link and Timbrell Drive/Mortley Avenue intersection at Haberfield to improve safety

• Improving safety and traffic noise by extending the existing 60 km/h speed limit from Boomerang Street to James Street.

TrafficA temporary speed limit reduction from 70km/h to between 40km/h and 60km/h will be in place on City West Link between Waratah Street and James Street for the duration of the work.

This reduction will improve road safety and minimise traffic and noise impacts during construction.

There are no changes to road access as part of this work. Lane closures are required and will generally occur outside of peak periods. Please keep to speed

limits and follow signs. Traffic changes may affect travel time. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.

Construction hoursMost of the work will be carried out during the night. Generally, our night work hours will be between 8pm and 5am from Monday to Friday, 8pm and 8am Saturday and 8pm and 9am Sundays, weather permitting. This will allow minimal impact

to traffic and other road users, including pedestrians and cyclists accessing the shared path.

Noisy work would be planned and managed to minimise impact on residents. Residents will be provided advance notice of any traffic impacts and noisy work. Noisier work will be staged at different locations and carried out earlier during the night. Some work may also be carried out during the day where there is no impact or change to traffic.

WestConnex New M4The New M4 is the first underground section of WestConnex, extending around 6.5 kilometres from Homebush to Haberfield. The twin motorway tunnels are three lanes in each direction and will allow road users to bypass up to 22 sets of traffic lights and increase travel reliability. The New M4 is expected to open to traffic in early 2019.

WestConnex M4-M5 LinkThe M4-M5 Link is the final stage of WestConnex, featuring twin tunnels between the New M4 at Haberfield and the New M5 at St Peters as well as an Interchange at Rozelle. Each tunnel will be around 7.5 kilometres long and able to accommodate up to four lanes of traffic in each direction. The M4-M5 Link will help ease congestion on Victoria Road and City West Link, while providing more green space for the community to enjoy.
