Columbia International University is a biblical university. What does that mean?

“Neither a Bible institute nor a liberal arts college, Columbia International University offers a curriculum with the spiritual advantages of the former, cultural advantages of the latter.”

What Does that Mean at the CIUGraduate School? “A biblical graduate degree in counseling or education as directed by God’s voice is the moral basis against which to measure right and wrong.”

“CIU educates people from a biblical world-view to impact the nations with the message of Christ.”

“To know Him and to make Him known”

Community Life:

“CIU is an amazing community of staff and students! A big part of my growth and learning at CIU came from relationships with others, walk-ing through life together, leaning on each other, and being united with the common passion of pursuing God and living for His glory.”

Master of Arts in Bible Teaching

“The Master of Arts in Bible Teaching culminates with placement in a student teaching opportunity for some real hands-on experience. My student teaching experience even led directly to a job I have enjoyed for the last three years.

Successful graduates of the MABT program earn Professional Certification from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). This is 1st-12th grade certification with Bible endorsement.Teach Bible in public school districts in the United States: Bible classes are currently offered in over 18 percent of public school districts in the United States.

Teach Bible in Christian schools in the United States: Each year CIU receives scores of requests for Bible teachers, more than we can fill.Teach Bible in international schools all over the world: These schools enroll national students as well as American students. Often these opportunities are in limited access countries.Teach Bible to nationals in government schools overseas: Many countries in Africa, South America, and other areas either require or allow Bible to be taught in the public government schools. Many of these classes are taught in English. Bible teaching opportunities to nationals exist on every continent in the world.Teach in Bible institutes and colleges overseas: As the church grows around the world, there is an increasing need for training believers in the Bible. Serve in church work, such as youth ministry and Christian Education. These are church ministries which require special emphasis in Bible teaching.

In three semesters, including a summer term, students build a knowledge of best education practices on previous Bible background. Fall coursework prepares students for off-campus practice teaching during the spring.

1. 2.7 GPA minimum in undergraduate or graduate study or submit verbal test scores above the 50th percentile and analytical writing scores about 3.5 on the Graduate Record Examination within the last five years.2. Master of Education Curriculum & Instruction

“I’ve learned what I need to effectively plan my classes and how to know what is needed to create a curriculum. I’ve also learned what it means to biblically integrate my classes. Seeing teachers model and live what they teach and having the blessed opportunity of meeting and having fellowship with Christian soldiers fighting the spiritual battle around the world is a lifelong experience that I wouldn’t change for anything.”

Our Master of Education, Curriculum & Instruction program allows the experienced classroom teacher to either elevate current skills to the level of Master Teacher or focus on acquiring the skills needed to evaluate, develop and supervise the school’s curriculum. The instructional focus is on biblical and subject matter integration, differentiated instruction, critical thinking and authentic assessment. Choose a concentration from three available tracks to develop expertise in your area of interest, need, or previous study. For those with initial ACSI certification, all tracks will lead to the appropriate ACSI professional certification. You will leave prepared to lead an instructional team, write and/or develop curriculum, supervise instruction, or serve as a Master Teacher at any level.

Designed with your current career in mind, the coursework may be completed in four summers (three summers if student utilizes distance courses). ESL concentration courses can be completed on campus during the fall and spring semesters.

1. 2.7 GPA minimum in undergraduate study or submit verbal test scores above the 50th percentile and analytical writing scores above 3.5 on the Graduate Record Examination within the last five years.2. Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership

Enrolling in the Ed.D. program at Columbia International University was a life-changing experience. I enjoyed the opportunity to engage in a rigorous academic program that merged educational theory with practical classroom application. The knowledge I obtained while at CIU has allowed me to better perform my duties as the head of a Christian school.

Graduates of this program will often continue in their work as Christian school administrators, equipped for a higher level of understanding and expertise in their field. They may contribute to the Christian school movement on a broader scale by publishing, researching, connecting to professional organizations and conferences, and exercising influence beyond their everyday environment and duties.

Program duration: Approximately 48 monthsCoursework begins in July with 2 or 3 one-week modular courses on CIU’s campus.Students complete one course by distance learning during each Spring and each Fall semester.
