Communityand SocialAchievementEqually important is the need to developconfidence and social skills. Children areencouraged to play a positive role in theschool community and learn to help andrespect others and their feelings. They mayalso be expected to undertake communityresponsibilities such as being a playgroundbuddy or prefect, helping on the school councilor being a monitor.

Community achievement is alwaysrecognised, praised and rewarded by thehouse points system, merit certificates andbadges. School assemblies celebrate allachievement and regular class assembliesshare community issues and new learning,often through drama and music.by leading senior schools. Our children

have passed exams for all the topindependent and grammar schools.

Our SATs results rank us top in our areaand in the top 100 nationally. Core subjectsare introduced from day one and are taughtin ways that young children find excitingand enjoyable.

Sports are taken seriously and anotheradvantage of being a small school is that it’snot just the sporting elite who get the chanceto represent the school.

We make full use of community resources,providing transport to the Eccles RecreationCentre, Soccer Dome, Monton Sports Cluband Eccles College. Some of these facilitiesalso have the advantage of being indoor andusable all year.

Clarendon Cottage School competessuccessfully with other schools, both

independent and local authority, across arange of sports including; football, netball,athletics, swimming, cross-country and insports tournaments.

We have won various trophies, oftenachieving well above what our stature mightsuggest - our teams are known for theirdetermination and commitment.

Competition also extends to our own sportsday, where children compete for their schoolhouse and can receive a wide range of awards.

Family Orientated

Children need to try as wide a range aspossible of different activities to help themdiscover where their interests and aptitudeslie. The school provides such a range ofactivity clubs and these may be held at lunchtime, after school or even in school time itself.Interest and hobby clubs are usually free tojoin, while other clubs, which require

specialist tuition, will be charged at cost.Children are encouraged to join at least oneclub and the club notice board is situated inthe main school entrance hall where childrenand parents can find out and keep up to datewith what is available.

Extra Curricular Clubs & Activities

The school provides high quality, flexible and economic beforeand after school care, as well as a holiday club. Familydiscount of up to 20% on care costs, across both nursery andschool, is also available for qualifying parents.

The school is a friendly place and parents, children and staffsoon get to know each other. Parents are encouraged to beinvolved and have a say in school matters through the PTA. Thisis a very active body and plays an important role in school life.

Homework is provided for all children but is not compulsory. Youcan make the choice, on a day to day basis, dependent on your ownwishes and your child’s and family’s needs.
